So the Christmas train season has begun. Since most of us are not working today and many of us have a long weekend let's get the pictures started.

For the second year in a row my church has asked me to set up a train to run on a Sunday or two before Christmas. We have 2 trees in the church foyer so I placed a track around each one. I have no intention of leaving nice trains sitting in the foyer unsupervised, I also didn't want to leave the tracks without a train around them. So I have a couple of trains holding the spots until I actually operate them next month.

Under one of the trees is the famous K-Line battery operated O-Gauge train set from several years ago. This is the set I affectionately refer to as the "junk set". These retailed at $29.99 (which means I paid to much). But if someone breaks it steals it at least I won't have to waste the attic space with it anymore.

The other tree is where I placed the Standard Gauge Track I have an old Ives 3235R (Repaint). Somewhere along the way I lost a part of the motor and it doesn't run. I really don't buy a new motor so it is at the church because losing this one would not be that big of a loss. I would love an excuse to buy one of MTH's reproductions of this in the red color. However it is just a place holder right now until I can bring in my Blue Comet, National Limited sets to actually run. It's not a bad looking set.

Great photos to start the weekend!  I spent a better part of my day switching body shells on two 3rd Rail FL9s.  Long story .. don't ask.  A bigger project than I anticipated.

In the meantime, I snapped a few photos of the slowly becoming less than temporary modular layout in the middle of my train room and a few shots of the soon to be removed layout along the edge of the wall in anticipation of my new layout ... someday.

Finally a G under wire as it was meant to be!

Great photos, everyone!

Congratulations on your trains around Christmas trees in your church, Scott!

Let's have some black on "Black Friday."

No. 425's spoked pilot wheels have been replaced with solid wheels. All 4 wheels are black, not blue. Hmmm  .  .  .

This is a new Reading & Northern version of a Reading HTv hopper. The Reading had more than a thousand, built from 1950 through 1957.

Scott, you're afraid to leave your trains at church?!?  No offense, but I'd find a new church.

It's not the church members I am worried about. It's all the other people passing through during the week. AA Meetings, Outreach programs, Daycare, food vendors for our coffee shop, to name a few.  The Christmas trees are upfront and all the offices are in the back of the building, so anyone could walk in off the street and no one would know.
