What followed you home?

I picked up the following:

-MTH Long Island Railroad "Jaws III" snow plow. Not sure what I'll ever do with it but it was too cool to pass up!

- MTH B&O Wagontop Boxcar

- Williams By Bachmann Toronto Peter Witt Trolley. Two Toronto PCCs are at the nearby National Capital Trolley Museum and I was fortunate to be able to operate one a couple years ago so this was a no brainer. I try to avoid Trainworld due to past experience but they had an incredible $100 price on these that no other dealers could match.

-Lionel Short Extension Bridge

-JT's Mega Steam

-Crab cake Sandwich and Lemonade from Sherri's.

I was on the look out for a RTR Lionel set from the 1990s - the Santa Fe Special. No luck. Did see several other sets on my "get list" that was a Childhood set. Saw a few but didn't buy 'em. Wasn't feeling it this trip to get one (an early MTH Superliner train set). Maybe in the fall.....!

Also went back and looked several times at the WBB B&O 4-6-0 but didn't pull the trigger.

Finally, I was looking for some MTH Railking NASA rolling stock. Didn't see the ones I was looking for. I see Stockyard Express has one in stock. I'l call them in the AM and order it.

Just pulled the trigger from Mario on a B&O WBB 4-6-0. Price was WAY lower than the dude in the Orange Hall plus shipping was free. All in all, not bad. Heard so many great things about this little loco. Hopefully it runs cool, unlike my WBB J which is once again at my dealer for overheating (shout out to Larry Harrington at Bachmann - asked him about it and he immediately offered to send me a new motor for it at no charge. Didn't even have to ask. Excellent service. Thanks Larry!)

I actually found the Junior Suspension Bridge I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay. I started in the Blue Hall at noon and 15 minutes later I had the bridge in hand for $35.00. Quite a surprise because I was not confident that I would find one.

It doesn't get much better than that. Congratulations.

When I saw Alex Malliae's pics of the Korber booth, I was very excited because I noticed that they had one of the 2-stall engine houses on display. I've been interested in it since they announced it at the October York, but it never appeared on their website. So I made Korber my second priority on Thursday (got there just after noon). I was able to measure the structure and determined it would fit on my layout. They had the standard 24" kits available for sale, but, having little artistic talent, I wanted the built up/painted/lighted version. I spoke to Alex (who was manning the booths with his delightful wife) and told him I was interested in one, and he immediately offered me the one on display... soooo, I am now the proud owner of an Alex Malliae original (and signed!!!) Korber engine house. And before the purists have a canary and the rivet counters pop one, in my little 14x16 world, large steamers use diesel houses!!! Really wish I had the room for a turntable and roundhouse, but that's a whole other issue.

Picked up a MPC track bumper, some electrical parts from Dallee (along with a wiring diagram and helpful advice on how-to-install), and a MPC #783 Hudson at Trainz.com (paint peeling off deck of tender and "SOS & whistle" doesn't work - but hey, I can replace that with a postwar whistle that I prefer). Good prices there. Got to see nearly all my York friends. So, a good meet for me.

I found 2 Railking flat cars, one with pickup trucks and one with vans, a track cleaning car and a rooftop tank kit from River Leaf Models (Andre). Andre's structures are very impressive. They look even better in person than in his excellent pictures. I also got my DCS system upgraded to version 5.0 by MTH. I may go back tomorrow morning for one last walk through before heading home.

I picked up 3 Weaver SD40-2's from Bob Feneran and Merrill Tucker from the NJ Hi-Railers. Definitely a bargain for all 3 at once.

Oh yeah, and a Missouri Pacific boxcar by Lionel, a CD by TM Books & Video, and a Lionel T-shirt. Very happy with what I got, and spent less than I thought I would need to. Not to mention ran into a few familiar faces in the hobby, and met some very nice people, young and old.

Always a good trip no matter what the haul and best of all is meeting old and new friends.  This years haul includes:

For me personally:

MTH Penny Gondola

Atlas L&N Gondola

Atlas Tank car (weathered)

Lionel Legacy Burlington Northern SD40

Cable reels (laser cut from Andre Garcia)

Acetone paints in various rust colors

RR Jacket (BTW the quality of the clothes from the dealer in the center of Orange hall is GREAT)

OGR Great layout adventures Vol 12

Mega Steam Smoke (Will call pick up from Jeb K)

Picked up a dozen scale cars that I had Harry Hieke weather for me)

For the TMB Club (@Scenic Express)

4 - 5-gallon pails of Ballast

Lots of plaster cloth

4 variations of of the new super leaf

Bag of BIG Pine trees

What  GREAT show. I got the stuff I wanted, which wasn't really all that much after taking home trunk loads of stuff twice a year for over 20 years.

Jeb had my pre-order on the smoke I wanted. What a great convenience.

Got the OGR DVD with Don Klose's and Dave Minarik's layouts. I've been to both of them, and I can't wait to see the videos and be po'd at everything I missed.

Got the TM DVD, Christmas 2015. Gotta have Marty's layout on a DVD.

eHobby had the LeMax items I wanted. They are SO nice to deal with. And have been for years.

Trying to figure out what to order from the new MTH catalog.

Really wanted to buy something from Mr. Muffin, but didn't find anything this time around. I'll have to try harder in October (or call Steve ahead of time so he brings what I want).

Anxiously awaiting the posts from the nattering nabobs of negativism who will tell us why York is doomed and isn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. Once that arrives, the Spring, 2016 York is complete.
