SJB18 :  Those units look great Bob.  You could even run an AABA if you wanted, RR in later years put the A units wherever they needed extra power.

Don

Like the AABA  Don.

I run my plated SF  F7 Premiers occasionally that way .

I run my UP  F7 Premiers as  AAA since I haven't been able to find the B unit.

These arrangements keep things from getting too boring . 😉

Finished the basic construction of my track cleaning car body. I had a one-step-forward moment. After I glued the end pieces on the body, it wouldn't fit over the car frame. It was a bit too short so first I had to remove the ends, add a thin piece of basswood, and reapply the end panels. After they dried, I added some 4mm angles to form the edge of the deck. I have more detailing to work on next but it's looking good so far.
The pipe load is going to get more detailing too. Need to figure out what parts I need and get an order in to Plastruct.

As promised, I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon in the basement. First I laid out the pipe load for the track cleaning car and wrote up a list of parts and pieces I need to order.

Then I installed GRJ's isolated rail relay to replace an ice cube relay for my crossing signals. The ice cube chattered as the car rolled over the block and the noise drove me crazy. Much better now

Oh yea- the mystery of the day. I put my K-line ATSF S-2 on the track and backed it up to grab a couple of cars.  First time the couplers didn't close, second time same result. I looked closer to see what was wrong and discovered that the rear coupler was GONE! I have no idea where it is and I know it was there....

I need to talk to my son and see if he knows anything about it.

Always good to have young ones...............it seems now that I remember Dad always asking what we did with his tools !!??!! 😉

He's 17.....I have a feeling that one of his friends was up to no good.

And yes, my father complained that I never put his tools back too. 🤪

I made that mistake once!  Dad never minded me using tools, but when I left a saw outside overnight and it go dew on it, he only chastised me, but I never forgot.  I was a pretty easy kid to manage I guess

My 25 + year layout is pretty well settled, so I have made very few dramatic renovations or changes in many years.

However, with all of the rain today in the NYC metro area where I live, I got ambitious and replaced an occasionally  problematic 022 switch with one that operates flawlesdly.

The switch is in an awkward place: behind a washing machine at a reverse loop, so it took some time to replace it.

I hope I haven't bored you folks with this mundane contribution. LOL.

WOW, I haven't been on for a couple of days and everyone is in ramp up mode! I wish I had something new for you guys, but the wife is killing me with all the to do projects! LOL

Railhead53, Outstanding work on your rock wall!

Jesse, Great looking scrap yard!

Bob, The track cleaning car is coming right along, really looking good! Also I love the flag pole!

JP, I am glad you enjoy that and that it works, but my head hurts just looking at it!

Ted, wonderful job on the Police car lights! I also love the night scene!

Well it looks like the wife is giving me the day today for train room stuff. Since the price of plywood has gone down, first thing this morning I plan on going to town to get I hope the last sheet I will need, it should give me enough to finish where the town is going and the upper loop on the other end by the industrial area.

Then all I will need is time ! LOL

I hope you all have a great week and find time for your layout and to have some fun with your trains!

Oh P.S. I got the layout control board sticker from the printer, one small problem they printed it to small I asked for 10" X 16" and here is what I got!

IMG_20210821_073959

As you can see its only 6 1/2 X 12 7/8th!

I'm in a similar boat.  After the Greenburg show and a family gathering on Saturday I had planned to spend a good portion of Sunday working on the layout.   Instead, I spent the day getting a new cell phone as I had dropped mine and shattered the screen and getting my son all packed up and ready to head back to college on Friday.   I won't have much time this week with work and then taking my son back to college.  My wife and I are making a weekend out of it.   Labor Day weekend is all trains between driving N&W 611, my layout and the club layout!

Everyone's work looks great!

During the Hot weather and the rain in upstate NY made some changes to my layout cut open a couple areas and did some scenery work to beat the rain and heat, Repainted a couple k-line bridges moss green and added some animals, Got tired of mowing and painting sheds lol HAGD all! God Bless our Troops in Afghan!

Not the best camera, guess u can say out of date.
