What to expect from York Spring show?

I guess they are calling anything above HO as "large scale", although you will find a little of that there, but certainly, ANY size train is welcome there (have not seen too much railroadiana, that is, stuff from real trains).  Most of what is there is tinplate, in all its gauges, S to LGB, certainly including O and Standard Gauge.

The Train Collectors Easstern Division IS the place to go for trains.  Held at the York Fairgrounds in April and Oct.  Is this the show you are inquiring about?

If it is then you can go one time as a guest. After that you must be a member of the Train Collectors Association to attend. It's a great show and I would advise you to go at least once to check it out.

There is another train show specifically geared to large scale (i.e. #1 scale (1:32), 1:29 and 1:22.5 (LGB) garden-railroad-type equipment, that exhibits at the York fairgrounds. That particular show is (if I recall correctly) open to the public. I doubt you'll find much O-Gauge there though. The TCA shows at York are the "Big Kahuna" so far as O-Gauge is concerned.

KEQWOW, You need to check out the TCA eastern division website. The meet is 70% O gauge, 20% S gauge. 5% standard gauge. The rest is the other 5%. It's in 6 buildings on the York fairgrounds. Over 1000 tables. members only. You can be a guest of a member once. The dates for April are April 14, 15 16.

This show was changed to an all scale format about two years ago. I'm not sure if it remains as such.

KEQWOW  if your from down state NY you can book a ride on the two charter buses from the Long Island, NYC , Bronx area. The buses go early on Friday april 15 and return the same day. If interested let me know and I'll get you the details.     Lenny J

The Allentown spring thaw show is not a bad train show neither. It's nowhere near the size of York but is a nice size show with plenty of vendors. It will be held February 27th and 28th at the Allentown Fair Grounds. You do not need to be a TCA member to go. I would strongly advise you to buy your ticket in advance as that allows you to get in an hour earlier than people who don't buy advance tickets.

Don't forget the Big E in Mass, see link above. Hopefully there won't be a day of show snowstorm like last year. My friend and I were psyched about going for the first time, but there was no way we were driving up the eastern seaboard in that! Hopefully this warm spell will last another month.

There are two different train shows at the York Fairgrounds:

The TCA show.

The large scale show now called an all scale show.

Decide which show you want to go to. Or go to both.

I once went to a "large scale" show at York about 9 years ago, because I had a "garden" set-up. I was very disappointed in how "ordinary" it was. Wanted nothing, bought nothing.

Oh, I'm here.  The thread was moved on me so I lost it momentarily, but I have been reading all of the responses and I appreciate everyone's feedback.  I will definitely be planning to join TCA and attending the April show.  

The "large scale" train show is March 25-26, 2016 at York.  Google East Coast Train shows.

I guess my initial confusion lies in the fact that there are TWO Spring train shows in York.  The "large scale" in March and the TCA meet in April.  

You want to go to the April one.

If you are into O-gauge, the two Eastern Division York Meets are certainly #1 on the list of places to visit!  As mentioned, Allentown First Frost and First Thaw meets are the runner-up, they have a lot of good O-scale stuff there as well.

KEQWOW, the large scale show is in March.  It is mainly all G scale.  It is the East Coast Large Scale Train Show.  It was being held twice a year (March and September)for a year or two.  They kept the March show for large scale only and made the September show  the All Scales Show.  The TCA Meet is twice a year.  Spring show is in April and the Fall show is in Oct.  Hope this helps.
