WTB reply option

BTW, your profile does have your email- that is how people are expected to reply to your post- so you are good to go.

Replies to posts on the Buy/Sell and WTB forums ave not been permitted for years.

Too much bumping threads back to the top with additional (and meaningless) posts.

I also suggest that you check your spam folder regularly - emails from strangers sometimes land there instead of the inbox.

I know about using my email in my profile - I received several for my WTB request for 3 part wire.

Without looking hard at all, I found these 2 threads in the WTB forum that have replies.  2 in the one, and one in the other. How come those threads got replies?

Just a side note, if you put you email in the message body and then do a google search everyone in the world can find your email and do nefarious bad-actor things with it. If the posts refers to your profile, then they cannot get it unless they are a member. Same for phone numbers etc. Something to think about...

In the roundhouse vent thread, the replies were from Rich and Alan pointing out OGR products that fit the bill.

I'm guessing the other one was posted originally in the wrong forum, got a reply, but then was moved by the moderator to the proper forum taking the reply along with it. Again, just a guess!

Thanks for pointing out the 'who' in the replies @Jim Policastro - I didn't open either.  I did notice on the one that it was replied to by coach joe though.  Your theory about it originally being in the wrong forum makes sense.

Out of curiosity, I went back and found several others that had replies, not from the admins but from members.  Again, possibly Jim's theory is correct even though neither included a message from admin saying they moved it.

THIS IS EXCELLENT ADVICE!

You should never - EVER - post your email address in text on the nest that visible to anyone.

Admins CAN respond in the For Sale and WTB forums. Members cannot.

You guess correctly, Jim. That is exactly what happened. The issue driving this is the administrators TIME. It takes only a moment and two mouse clicks to move a thread. It takes a several more steps to surgically delete posts within the thread.

If an admin (there are several) moved a thread, he would not have made any note in the thread that it had been moved.

I guess there's a lot of members besides me that didn't know that replies could only come thru an email contact.  I received several that asked why they couldn't respond! 

BTW: that was my first and only WTB post.  It's actually the first time that I visited that thread since my buying days are over.
