Welcome summer! and welcome once again to the Midweek Photo thread where we share some of our views of the railroad world. Vacation season is underway for most of us, so remember to keep a camera handy for when a train enters your vacation spot.
While not on vacation this past week, I did snap some random pics around my area. The Delaware Lackawanna Railroad in Scranton is in the process of painting their random selection of Alcos into what they call their corporate colors. The gray and white are variations of the later Alco demonstrator engines with a few modifications. Above we see 405, originally a Lehigh Valley C420 with metal flag on the short hood, but with the corporate colors. Behind 405 is 2457, which recently left the loco shop. On the left is C425 2452 in a version of Erie Lackawanna colors.
One of the next units to be painted is C424 no 2403. The green and black are remnants from her life on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.
Other neat pieces in the yard are these trailers from the Lackawanna Railroad and the Erie Lackawanna.
Piggy Back Service
327 is a former SP&S unit, donating her organs so other Alcos can survive.
Other units on the move include F3 no 664 in Lackawanna Railroad colors. This past Wednesday was her first in service at Steamtown for 2016
A better view of 2457 in her new paint could be found in Steamtown.
Steamtown is also continuing to run their Scranton Limited trains with steam locomotive no. 26.
That is my selection for the week. See you soon, and remember to post any photos you have from the real world right here.
