517 caboose rare variation?

i have exactly one #517 caboose and this is where the light is on mine.  when i got it, there was a clear bulb in the socket, so i never thought it was an EOT marker anyway.

Do you mean the light is on the end closest to the cupola?

the light is a standard small socket bulb centered over the end door.  if i wasn't clear enough, mine has the light at the end opposite the cupola end.  on the cupola end there is a hole, but no socket.

The roof is easily removed with no damage done.  I have 517 that have/had the light as you describe, correct as planned, and with sockets on both ends.

By no stretch is any of these configurations rare, they are hardly notable...factory errors are plausible and reasonable... but they are not more valuable.... mainly because Lionel manufactured  so many of the 517 caboose.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure, so I figured I'd post here. I guess I'll have to search for another way to get my 15 seconds of fame!!

That is the way they came from the factory. Lionel cannot fit the roof on with the light at the cupola end as the socket hits the cupola insert. 

I was interested in this and thought I'd add a photo for reference (from internet).
