Add sound to a TMCC powered B-unit?

You can buy a sound system from Electric railroad and add it. The trick will be finding and hooking up the comm line.

I make speaker cabinets from tomato paste cans and install fat boy speakers in one end.

I guess finding the comm line depends on which command board you have.  Searching the forum, I found one post that mentioned needing to add reed sensors for speed, I guess for the engine sound levels.  Would the ERR board need these sensors too?

If you find the comm line, would you need a speed sensor? Wouldn't speed info be encrypted in the data on the comm line?

You could run a tether over with the serial data, but you may have to add a buffer for the serial signal.

It's probably easier to add a reed switch and magnet to a truck wheel for the motion sensing.  I've done this with RailSounds 4 diesel boards, but I haven't tried it with the new ERR diesel sound boards.  I'd check with Ken at ERR to make sure that the new board will recognize the trigger input on the diesel sound sets.  The steam sets use it to trigger the chuff, I know that works, just don't know what they do for diesel boards.
