I am curious if anyone else is putting their new Legacy Berkshire through its paces, i.e. not just a test run. I've probably got 8-10 hours thus far on mine.
I am learning more and more about Legacy as I log more hours running my Legacy PE Berkshire. The engine initially worked well for 2-3 hours. But then, I started having problems with the main smoke stack going dead, and thanks to forum members I've learned about the diagnostic code that the engine gives via blinking cab light. Long story short, the main smoke stack was going dead, while the cab light would blink, but the whistle smoke still worked!? Very confusing as the cab light would continue to blink even after shutting the engine down via remote. But, page 30 of the instructions details this and how to reset via the Cab 2. I had been re-programming per instructions and that was getting the main stack to work again, but it take two re-programming attempts to restore it. Someone else suggested taking it apart and ensuring the connections are sound and the wires aren't twisted. I haven't gone that far yet but will likely try that if the problem persists. Worse case scenario, I'll have to send back to Lionel.
My new Berk has a great smoke unit when it works. Of course it quit as soon as I had my family over last week, and that was before I knew about the diagnostic blinking cab light and reset.
I'd like to know why this was happening in the first place.
