Thanks for posting the above pictures. We always love to see the vintage cars. One question is the #5655 1939 IRT pictured above car being restored. I used to see it in the Coney Island Yard next to the fence along side the street. I really enjoyed riding and photographing the vintage BMT Cars at Brighton Beach last month. Thanks again for the heads up. There was no advertising about this event even from the transit museum even to it's members.

Ed   That is the last Steinway car in existence   It was just recently moved from the back of 207 yard to the museum track   Haven't heard anything but I would guess its slated to be restored

The Steinway car would be a great addition to the Lo-V set of cars. I remember that they and the Lo-V cars were mixed for operation on the 3rd Av. El in the later 60s.

I received a notice from the transit museum a few days ago that in addition to the R1-9 cars operating on July 11th from the museum to Coney Island the Tri-plex cars will be joining them on that trip. Pass on the information to the guys.

Would be real nice if that Steinway car now at 207 could be restored and running in time for the August 8th transit museum trip to Pelham Bay and then on by vintage bus to City Island. By the way the 10 car train of Tri-plexs and R1-9 cars last Saturday was great. All the cars performed smoothly and we get really some fast running along several lines including the A Line under Fulton St. The Q along the Brighton Line, The D Line elevated tracks over the streets and the under 4th Av. in Brooklyn on the way back. Maybe around 400 people were on the train. Hope to do more running before the year is up.
