Yes 1929 (I'm getting old!) you are correct and those were the Heavy Mountains.  The S&A did have of the NYO&W's 5 light Mountains so there would still be two roads covered.

The Old and Weary car shop (Al Sebach) is still in operation but he was working to restore his web site. I think he is on facebook. thr calling him at (845)680-0405 in the late afternoon or on the weekend and I'll bet you'll get him.(Al runs the shop part time.)

 

As far as the O&W not running through big cities , most larger cities grew AFTER the railroads ran through them. Take the case of Middletown and the Erie for example, Middletown grew after they convinced (and paid) the Erie to come through it.

I think Weaver would have to officially announce they were making this engine before we could send them a deposit. I'm ready when they are!
