Buy anything cool lately?

Purchased the MTH Railking 60' Veterans Unit Baggage Car from Nicholas Smith Trains. Now I have all the cars to go with the Veterans set.

I found these at a gift shop in Callabash, NC.

Haven't found anything yet but it certainly is nice to work in a store that has all sorts of things I can't have haha. I've been drooling over a Railking Imperial J for the past week as well as the somewhat difficult to find P42s in Phase V. We've had one since release and somehow nobody's snagged it.

Scored again on an auction last night. Joined the BL-2 club.

You picked the correct livery as well, Bob!!  ;-)

Last week found this on my from steps, another McCoy Caboose to add to my growing Collection

Bought this Lackawanna Brass caboose from a gentlemen that emailed me on the forum. Can't open until christmas. This is a pic until then.

A while back, my brother said he had a builder's plate off of a World War II heavy military flat car, that he had bought at a military show in Belgium. I didn't think much more about it, then this showed up in the mail today.
Its about 7X10", I think its cast iron.
Crazy heavy.

That is really cool Lee. There used to be a huge 3 or 4 foot long builders plate from GE on the front of the steam turbines down in the steam plant on my old boat, CVN70.  I always thought that would be a great one to borrow for a while.

I picked up my first ETS tinplate cars and this neat Bing 0-4-0 clockwork loco shell.  I have a couple of references as to what it once was, but I'll post them over on the tinplate page at some point when I hopefully put it back together.

Not exactly train related but I got a new motherboard for my workstation PC build. Plan to start a train Youtube channel once the project is done, as I'll have the processing power for 4K video editing.

We went out to have dinner in Tacoma, I stopped by a hobby shop along the way, I found these two books and some scale flowers, only paid 26 bucks for the whole lot of it.

I'm sure that it helped that the books were of a subject matter that not a lot of people around here would be interested in.

I liked the Williams Ringling Bros Baldwin 4-6-0 soooo much I got last week; that I picked up a C&O version today.  I like how it looks with my Anheuser Busch/Budweiser cars.  Gonna stop by the LHS tomorrow and pick up some engineer figures.

I love those Williams 4-6-0's. They are fantastic little engines. I had a little fun with mine.

Hey Matt--when you get a chance, could you post a pic or two of that Ringling Bros engine? Video even better! :-) I've been considering that engine and would love to see it in action.

I know, I know I am really late to this party.  But have not paid any attention to the "Keepsake" offering for two or so years.

Anyway was at Kohl"s this week picking up an accessory for new Keurig.  Instead of walking directly to check-out headed to/through Christmas decor.  About 20-feet ahead was the very small Hallmark display.  At the bottom spied the silhouette of an engine I had.

The second Lionel set Santa brought me was Christmas 1948.  It was the "Electronic Set" with the Pennsy S2 turbine 671 in the lead.  So just had to have it.

I highly recommend the Williams 4-6-0's. Great low speed operation and a beautiful little engine with great construction and weight. Williams smoke units leave a lot to be desired, but I wouldn't let that stop you.

Went to the Parma Ohio show this morning. It was a pretty good show with some decent prices on engines. I still go to the shows with my needle in a haystack list of wants. But I happened to go by this one table and there it was and I couldn't resist buying it. There is just something about those single dome tank cars. So that was my unexpected buy for the day. Pic.........Paul

I was at the Parma show also and like you with my needle in the haystack list. Ended up buying a postwar Lionel 211 Alco diesel pair for a real nice price...(as if I needed more Alcos)...but hate to leave there empty handed!

I finally got an engine that I can remember from my childhood,locomotive and train books checked out from a local library,this was the only one I can specifically recall, it impressed me when I was 8 and it still impresses me,this is my 2nd steam engine after I got the Southern Pacific Daylight about a year ago,I got the Big Boy 2 weeks ago today,blown away by the size and then shocked at the weight when struggling to lift it from its styrafoam tray,it sat on static display for me to oogle over as soon as I got in from work each day,finally this evening I took it to the train room again where I struggled to lift it onto the tracks without damaging any details,only to find it impossible to get the drawbar connection in,so off the track it came and I struggled even more to get tender and engine together set on the tracks lol,

Paul2 that tank car was pert of the Frisco Fallen Flags #5 set.

Picked this up at Barnes and Nobles today. Very interesting story about the Seaboard.

Bored, my railroads Chairman of the Bored went to a local junk mall, indoor bazaar, flea market, trailer-trashcan, etc...  Among the crowd there was a man in blue standing around waiting for work. With his price sign humbly displayed at his clean step. "Old Scool" and odd; he will not fit in on most lines around here and I'm easy. But that's cheap labor, and he did seem clean and well rounded. So I gave him a shot, paid the 2 bit Price, and we will put him to work in the Industrial Park South toy layout.

   I've been looking for a small figure for the FRED flying saucer at the end of my Looney Tune's Marvin the Martian train for a few years. Always too big before; but I finally I hit a homerun...or umm.. a three pointer. I always hoped it would be Tweety. I think the ball will become a helmet.

Now to emit an evil laugh, slink away and go chop him up.. Mwa hahahaha 

I think I'll need a light in the FRED dome now too.

Lee, not sure how the value of the original volume "Southern Railway in Color" is holding now.  But several years ago when still participating I found one (was very much looking for) where the guy was asking and holding at $95.00.  I was considering it (wanted it) but was far from pristine condition, so passed.  Late found a "new" one online for $45.00.  Ended up happy.  

These at-least where very hard to find.
