I got some goodies today.

#1  Thank you Stan.  I am the proud owner of a WLLC radio station.  I will add a FM transmitter to my Echo Dot so I can railroad to non stop Beatles music.

#2  I got my first piece of Prewar!!  I have been admiring the early stuff on the Bay.  I could not pass this up for $10.  I think I read somewhere on the forum that there is an adapter that will let me connect it to my post war equipment.  Anyone know a part number and a source?  I feel more early rolling stock is in my future.  I love the patina.

Happy Bill

Bill- there's an adapter for prewar to post war knuckle coupler . I have one but it doesn't work well.

My suggestion is to wire the coupler to another car and enjoy.

Look on evilbay if you really want one.

This is just another tank car to everyone but me. I used to spot tanks just like this RailKing model at the refinery in Cyril, OK. while working the train we called the Fletcher Turn.
This is one of a few examples 88C1B860-B8B6-4490-8B4C-5192D1837ADE60774463-8F1F-4677-9F9E-42116D2A27CDof how the MTH RailKing model is far superior to its Premier line equivalent. The Premier ethyl tanks look strange and way out of proportion.  The Lionel version is close to accurate but lacks the dome handrailing.
I wish I had a small set of scales so I could weigh this car...it feels like it weighs 2+ pounds.

In June, when my wife and I went to Durango to ride the Durango and Silverton the following day, my wife and some others on the tour went to dinner and I went to photo some trains, as they were still coming in and everything at the depot was still open for a couple of hours.

I looked around the gift shop after taking the photo above of 473, and bought a few things but I really wanted one of these jackets. I have enough jackets, but they’re almost all military or space related and I wanted something RR that didn’t look cheesy. This fit the bill and it was fleece-lined and had a detachable hood. It wasn’t too much, either. But as always we packed very tightly (my wife is never happy unless the suitcase is packed very tight and has no excess room, for some reason I’ve never understood). Anyway, it’d never fit in the suitcase going home. I even took a photo of it in case I ever decided to call them after we got back, to order one.

It nagged at me ever since that evening and when the summer was ending I thought, “Why not?” and called them to have one ordered. They were very nice and shipped one and I got it yesterday. I’m looking forward to wearing it as it's supposed to be getting cooler very soon!

I found a Century Club Green GG-1 2332 on Ebay, EX+ with no box but o/w fine for $170. To me, a great price.

However, one electrocoupler snapped off during shipping, so now it is in for repair at my local service center. I suspect it will need an entire truck assembly, so there goes the “great” deal.

The  seller is kindly working with me on a price adjustment, so I’m hoping the deal stays at least “very good” if not fantastic. Beautiful engine.

i have the modern era black model 2332 and 2360 tuscan solid stripe, so I couldn’t see spending much for this third one. They are going for around $350-400 new.

Nice move Lee¡ You can never have to many jackets. Your right it is already getting colder and that will be nice to wear to keep you warm!

Indeed. I'm probably going to the model train show at Battle ground on Saturday and if it's cool enough that morning, I'll be wearing it for the first time...

Well Lee, they say the temps are going to drop this weekend, down to the mid 50's so it sounds like a good day to try your new jacket out! Side question, do you know if there is a fall train show in Puyallup?

Not to be contrary … or maybe precisely to be contrary  … we are in day 2 of a 6 day forecast of record breaking high temps down here in Chattanooga! And I will be attending the Terminus sponsored train show tomorrow northwest of Hotlanta - first show for me in several months!! Talk about a train show drought!

Shout out to Joey Ricard', Trackside Scenery.  I ordered a back drop for my photography of my models.  I ordered it on Saturday.  I received it on Wednesday, and it is just beautiful..  Plus scale specific. what a difference that makes for achieving an overall realistic scene.  If you've been holding off on purchasing a backdrop, you won't be disappointed . The high quality paper and photograph is completely outstanding'...

According to this, it's not until January. There's the Boeing show in November, though: http://www.bemrrc.com/

Thanks Lee, guess I will have to wait till the show in January. I should be cleared to drive by then!

Mike, looks like January 18th and 19th at the fair grounds.

Your right Larry, but the farmers book says lots of snow! Lets see who is right in the end! Are you in Washington?

The old Farmers Almanac says it’s going to be milder than normal.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Oh Boy, Mike, is your memory short!  You don’t recall the email or two we had a year or so ago?

I live about 20 minutes or so south of Hoodsport just outside of Shelton.

I went to a show in Newark, DE today and ended up getting a 312 AF passenger set. It runs great and has the smoke in tender feature. Its my first really nice AF steam engine. I also bought a 30B 300 watt transformer. Not a bad day. Not much O gauge stuff there today but still a good day with my dad and uncle. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
