Another project car to go with the same one I got at York.

All in all let’s just say it was a good warm up for the show.

Trainwreck, that diner is highly detailed, the trucks especially, very nice. Who is the manufacturer? I'm gonna guess 3rd Rail/Sunset?

I bought a NIB Santa Fe Baggage Car, #19109 on eBay.  I paid less than $80 for it, Greenberg has it for over $250.  I also just got on Stout a NIB Santa Fe F3B (non-powered but Command Control) #18136,  and a NIB PRR GP-9 non-powered B unit, #18580.  I got the last 2 for $150 total, and Greenberg has those 2 for over $400.  I'm telling my wife how much money I'm saving, but it doesn't seem to work .

I plan on adding lighting to the baggage car once I figure out how to get a roller pickup installed.  I put in an industrial alkaline battery in the SF F3B which I got from a recently purchased PRR GG-1.  In the GG-1 I put in a YLB that I picked up from Hennings.  I replaced the 2 incandescent bulbs in the PRR unit with LEDs.  I will probably update the SF F3 with LEDs in the near future.

Update: I realized the working doors on the baggage car had no glass, so I just installed that.

I bought the Lionel 39396, US Coast Guard flatcar with load, NIB, on the bay for a really good price.  Unfortunately the rope (?) that secures it in place was not in the box.  I'm in contact with the seller to get that resolved.  The car did look unused.  I couldn't find the part number for the rope(?) on the Lionel site, so I'm not hopeful.  I used some Jewelers chain I bought for another train project and used that to tie down this load.  I think it's okay.

I bought this car since I didn't have a Coast Guard car in my collection.

I have the three MTH RS27s

I have also purchased the MTH // Atlas Penn Central GP40s.  Atlas upgraded the MTH, I'm a little underwhelmed by what Lionel has done.  Lionel painted the horns and added a few grab irons I think.  Same old pitiful front windshield with wiper molded in.  Had hoped bolster would be the fixed dynamic, no such luck.  Happy the model is still in production vs the alternative.

So I decided to take a trip to Stockyard Express after school on Friday.  Check out the ACY FM Trainmasters for someone on the forum, maybe see if the scale test cars were in because I was curious about they looked like in person.  Terrible decision really.  I should know better than that by now.  Anyways, brought home a scale test car (it was just too unique (and surprisingly dense)) and a Morton Salt hopper.

I picked this up from a train show today. One of the local train shops was clearing out old stock. Of course one the locos is defective out of the box. The UP 119 doesn't smoke right and the sounds don't function. I don't want to sound like I'm dogging on Lionel but the Jupiter is the first LionChief locomotive I've gotten that is actually good straight out of the box. I will contact them tomorrow and see if they will fix it or have me contact Lionel about it. Considering it was dead stock they priced to move, I'm sure they will be thrilled it isn't working right...

The back story. My son took my grandson to see Niagara Falls and attend a Metallica concert. Not sure which one they liked the best, but, shortly after they returned we were browsing my LHS and we spotted this, broke out laughing and we just had to ad this to the collection. I chuckle every time I look at it. So does my wife, while she walks away, shaking her head.   By the way, it is a legit beer.

I do a great deal of figure painting and it is difficult to get the Vallejo paint mixed well due to the small bottles.  I finally invested in a vortex mixer.. Best investment I made in a long time'... This thing works great.  Not only the small bottles, but the craft size, and rattlers as well.. After extensive research and You tube videos, I chose this one.  They range from $30 into the $100s. I paid $40 on the Zon'...  If you paint a lot, I highly recommend one of these babies'

Spent the morning cleaning up this beast. Purchased it as part of an estate lot, its MTH Rail King 30-1464-1 Cab Forward 4-8-8-2 with Protosound 2.0, made in 2007. Gave it a thorough dusting and charged it up. had to remove 3 of 4 traction tires that came off during test running. Looks like its going to be a bear to put new ones on. Its very neat but I really don't have a layout big enough for it, haven't decided if I want to keep it or sell it.

That's Lionel (notice the green tint windows).  It's 6-84825 from the 2017 Vol. 2 catalog.

Last week I won these two items from eBay and they arrived Saturday. First up is another pole auger truck but this one is a Freightliner compared to the International I got the other week.

The second item I won from the same seller is a Hershey Transit Company trolley. This will go great with my small collection of Hershey items.

I tend to try to make bundle buys on eBay so that the shipping fees are lower. I will ask the seller first if they offer combined shipping.

Nothing like receiving a FedEx package unexpectedly early on a Sunday! So just like a few of the recent sets I purchased, this set has also been on my list for quite some time. Introducing my new TCA Bicentennial Special passenger set. This set is in incredible condition and it honestly looks like it’s never been run other than the test run prior to purchase. The plaque and everything is there along with the original box being in great shape too. This came from the same gentleman selling me the Menards collection. I’m beyond pleased with this purchase! Now I need to figure out what to use to make a realistic coke load      I'm thinking maybe fish tank filter charcoal or gravel.

I just got these, original tickets from the line I model.

Elizabethton is still a decent-sized town along the former ET&WNC.

Pardee Point was the stop most scenic along the Doe River Gorge, just outside of Hampton, TN. It's a spot that'd rival anything you'd see on the D&RGW's Silverton route. The best part is that tracks are still there, re-laid in the 60s and now owned (and operated with trains) by a Christian camp! I've ridden a speeder up to there twice (in 2000 and 2005).

Crabtree was two station stops past that, on the backside of the gorge area.

Fish Tank gravel works pretty well, Use some plastic kitchen wrap to line the containers then put your material in and shape it the way you want it to look the saturate the load with white glue and water.  Once its dry you can pull the load out or put it back in any time you want.  Like the loader, too

Haven't been on here in a while but I purchased this as I'm re-entering the hobby by collecting O-scale diesels, (Kept my subway sets). I got this MTH Premier NS GP38-2 at the show in Springfield along with (not pictured) A decent amount of Atlas O track, 2 pieces of rolling stock, and some o scale vehicles.  Now on the hunt for a Southern Pacific or Cotton Belt Sd45T-2 again.

My Downeaster cabbage arrived from Mr. Muffins today. Man, I love this Hobby Shop!
Anyway, it arrived with zero broken parts. Unfortunately, that is something I should be impressed by these days considering my last few Lionel orders. A few people voiced frustration about the missing cab figures, but I think this is a feature. Obviously, the Downeaster will run in both directions, but isn't it weird to have cab figures in every single locomotive on your train?  I'm only slightly concerned about the weight (just over 3lbs).  A single MTH Genesis is going to need to push four amfleets, a dome, and a 3lb dummy at speed. We'll see...

Check out floral gravel at Michaels, etc. I use several different ones on my layout.

Bit the bullet on the 1948 20th Century Limited cars by 3rd Rail.  Got the additional Kitchen Car and an extra 4-4-2 sleeper.  Very happy with the result.  The fine detail pieces are included for you to add at home; I haven't put them on yet.  Love the fabric diaphragms that attach magnetically to the ends of the cars.  The aluminum cars are nice & heavy - happy my Legacy E8s can pull (only unit is powered).  I'll have to break out my 3rd Rail PA & PB too, it seems....

I never actually saw the diaphragms on their website. Pretty darn cool I must say. Great video too.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that.  The material can pop out a bit on the curves, which looks a little funny.  Easy to pop back in on the straights, tho.  Maybe I can mess w/them, I dunno.  Still looks really good.  Wonder if they'll be on the Chessie cars.

I decided to feed my new postwar addiction. I went with a 726 because I couldn't get past the tender offerings for the 736. Plus Magnatraction isn't that important to me. The 746 is a short stripe version. It looks barely run.

A pair of Jacks, a Brunkhorst reefer to accompany my previously purchased  Boars Head reefer. As a young man working in a deli I cut hundreds of pounds of Boars Head meats. Lastly a Carnation reefer. I’ve subsequently have ordered the white carnation as well.
