Bought a sound board for my Williams GP9 and installed it. Now it has a true horn and, everything else.

Scott, that is whole lot of great looking modeling and miniatures, all possessed of a real, palpable cheerfulness in what appears to be a very happy place.

This small roundhouse dwarfed the even smaller swap meet I attended today.  The seller also had a number of other assembled wooden buildings, some of which I bundled together into a nice tidy deal.  I couldn't wait to add some details this afternoon but this first pic is pretty much as bought.

 

The siding is even scribed on the inside and a great deal of post and beam construction adds to the realism....a virtual blank canvas for extreme detailing.  Lighting and the styrene smoke stack vents were also included.

 

I applied some ink wash just for kicks.  You can also see where I'm adding new molding around the roof eves...helps hide any gap that might be visible between the roof and sides.

 

Loads more fun involved in detailing it out.  Maybe someone knows....is this roundhouse a kit?  The stall doors look manufactured ...almost too good to be scratch.

Hey passenger ttrain collector, do you know, were there any more CNW cars made? Somebody told me that K-Line made a total of twelve for the set but I have only ever seen the 8

Saw this at Chugmans house when I was there and just had to have it so I bought three for a fellow forum member

I just got one in the mail too!!!!!

 

I now have two 40ft Hy-Cube UP box cars on the way too!

Made it to the Greenburg show in Wilmington, MA on Sunday.  Picked up some postwar goodies.  Got a 020 crossover in a really nice box.  Just wanted to pick one up to have around, the box was an added bonus.  Was looking for a project so I found a guy with a table full of them at very reasonable prices.  ended up picking up a later model 2026 that just needs some rewiring and he threw in a log dump car that I needed for the conveyor log loader I got a few weeks back.  The log dump car is missing 2 spikes, but operates very well and has 5 original logs.  I have an early model 2026 in my collection that I love (great little runner!), so this late model one will be my project to fix up and flip.  Cosmetically it's pretty good minus a small chip on the front and a chip on the front bottom of the tender, so all it needs is mechanical/electrical which is the part I'm good at anyway!

Matt, according to the Legacy K-Line website, there were 12 C&NW 21" passenger cars made, six Hi-Level commuter style and six low level. I have 8, but two are duplicates. Hope this helps.

PTC, I have 8 as well and none of them are duplicates. One of my 21 inch sets is not listed on the site. I may buy the K-Line Catalog DVD for $25 to see

I know this is not train related, but I will be bringing it to the fall York show!It is a 2004 T-Bird with 11,700 miles, still smells like new inside!

We looked at those a while back when the wife wanted a 'cool car'.

But unfortunately for us....they haven't loss as much value as I thought they may have!!!

I don't know if it is cool, but I have been looking for this car for several years.  I've been outbid on it three times over the last 7 years, so this time I bid really high.  I won it at less than half my max bid

 

This gives me 14 21" cars (mix of K-Line and GGD) which is the max I can fit into my planned staging track with my E7 ABA.

Got these off ebay and found some cheap frames with matting for them.

 

I won the FEC car in a contest. It's a traditional Lionel car. The rest I bought at 2 train shows this month. The REA reefer is a Lionel Standard O car, the Mathieson reefer is an MTH Priemier operating car and the rest are MTH Premier cars.

Matt, I think I'm going to do the same.  The Legacy site is good, though some errors (not being a critic, I've used the site many times).

 

The set product numbers don't list an accurate content of which cars are in sets.  For example, a set product number of 4690C is just the 3 car set number-not the specific cars in it that had different product numbers.  This is only an issue when looking for sets, not individual cars. I found out the hard way....

 

The DVD should clarify what cars came in which sets, based off the catalogs.

 

Love the K-Line 21" aluminum cars~!  I still get excited when I find a set for sale-though I have all the cars I want, I buy 'em every time.  Just bought another set today.

 

And, as you already know, some of them are very hard to find and demand a premium!

 

You'll need a heck of a staging yard for 14 of those monsters!

Attended the Large Scale Train Show at York on Friday. Took my buddy over to the Charles Ro booth to show him their BigBoy and stumbled on this:

It's a Gauge 1 Pacific Steam engine manufactured by a Swiss company called Fulgurex.  Their models in N, O and G are handmade in brass in limited quantities.  It's a Deutsch Reishbahn (DR 18) cab#201.  It is very similar to a model made by MTH a couple of years ago.  It was in mint condition with  a $6,000.00 asking  price (make an offer).  A follow up to a company called Reynaulds Trains which sells only European models said this loco probably sold for $10,000 .

He asked me what I paid for it and said that I made a "steal" (it's about time). It comes with lights only and runs under DC power.

 

I made a couple of counter offers and we agree upon a price.  This model was shipped yesterday to an installer for the installation of DCC, synchronized smoke timed with the drivers and I hope smoke.  Much to my amazement is the fact that this loco is under steam today and ran in 2014 in Germany.

Picked up my Ebay stash from my pal. He's a ex-pat Brit so I supply him with British Cadburys chocolate and he looks after my US Ebay train stuff till I visit.

 

I had quiet a few boxes .... imagine the scene from Radiers of the Lost Arc the one with the box in the warehouse and you get the idea he said

At the Edison NJ World's Greatest Hobby show, where we had a booth, my daughter and 3 grandchildren came to visit me and the wife.  We bought them Lego stuff, little furry things that run all over the floor of the house, puzzles, toy airplanes, toy trucks, other odd ball toys, cotton candy, chocolate, pickles [from the pickle man] and other goofy things. NO TRAINS--they had no interest in them.  Maybe that is why so many non-train items were being sold in the place.  We did not try the fried Oreos!!!

Deep fried Oreos! Sounds like the deep fried Mars Bar or Cadburys Cream Egg we get in the UK. Who thought it was a good idea???.

  Last week, I purchased a K-line F-7 A & B set from a fellow forumite.  Now, I have the perfect completion to my passenger train.  I started buying the cars about 5 years ago.  The cars are MTH Railking and are decorated in a C & O-influenced B & O paint scheme.  For years, I waited for a suitable locomotive set to pull this train.  The wait was worth it.  Thank you , Jeff!

Talk about cool....my 3rd Rail Timken 4 Aces was delivered yesterday.  I have not opened it yet,but,looking at the posted photos I would say that it is pretty cool.

Scored it off eBay and it arrived last night. It's in a bound volume of the entire first year of MR from 1934. I couldn't resist as I'd never even seen one before and the price was very afforable. I'm surprised it went for so little...
