CONNECTING Z 1,000 &DCS SYSTEM

I'm trying for the 1 st time in my O Scale life,with frustration,to set up my DCS System.

I'm 2 rail & am told to connect the Z 1,000 power brick to a "Barrel Jack," leaving off the actual transformer itself-ok that was no problem.

Next,the DCS instructions say to connect the red & black connections to the Fixed DCS IN terminals-here is where it gets ugly. The 2 male plugs look like they should fit right into the female connections on the DCS but for the life of me I've tried everything imaginable & they just loosely hang in the female ends. What's wrong? I have barrel jack 50-1017,as instructed.

Please help&thank you in advance.

Modelers:

After trying my hookup possibilities,then reaching out for help here,I made a frustrated, last - ditch effort at my connections,&this is 1 time some force helped,meaning that's what was required to get the plugs in the banana jacks. thumb So crisis averted.
