2003 ZW, 2 * 180w, DCS and Legacy.

A PW 671 Penn Turbine has intermittent spontaneous whistling in conventional. Otherwise no problems attributable to ZW.

Legacy I am new to. Base does not charge handset (apparently a common problem) but I have a ridiculous inventory of regular AAA, AA, C, D, 9v batteries so I use them.

Problem with signal quality from one of variable channels on TIU. TIU will not communicate with handheld by radio so I use a 25 ft phone handset cord. Yes I did reset the boards in the TIU and remote.

My layout has two multi-block channels. Some of these blocks are switchable. Each channel can be conventional, DCS, Legacy, or DCS & Legacy. If I take care on when and where the power is and the level is  everything seems to be all right and co-exist.

If you bring power up in the wrong sequence your MTH engines may be in conventional mode which is not a good idea at 18v. Or your legacy engines may ignore the handset.

There's absolutely no way that a single channel signal issue can be corrected by tethering the remote to the TIU.

Are you possibly miss-stating the problem and its solution?
