Apparently this stuff is no more ? - It was my absolute favorite go-to CA type glue for years - every York the gentleman was demonstrating his product in the Orange hall and I would always buy several bottles myself and friends etc

My question - for guys who used Dr Mike’s have you found a similar product you are happy with ??? - I’ve been told Sinbad glues are very similar to Dr Mikes

Thank in advance

I have had some problems with Gorilla glue gel with the last two orders.  The gel would coagulate on the bottom of the bottle.  Other than sticking in a small stick to get glue out, nothing would work, and that glue was pretty dry.  Did contact Gorilla glue and their response was that the batch was fine.  I have switched to Loctite and that has been good so far.

Just checked out the Mercury website - the no-clog bottle / applicator is intriguing - does it work ???

Always a pain in the butt freeing up clogged CA bottles

Thx

The Mercury no-clog tip works better than any other CA glues I've used (Gorilla, Loctite, Bob Smith Industries). The only hiccups I've run into is occasionally with the thick adhesive I'll squeeze out too much and not wipe off the tip. The cap then sometimes sticks to the cap, but once I get it off the tip is clear and I've never had to ream them like with other CAs. The worst time was when I wasn't paying attention and unscrewed the cap without realizing it was stuck, and I wound up unscrewing the tip-to-bottle assembly. It's not perfect but better than any other I've used. I'm really trying to us these CAs with applicators, dispensing a drop or two into an old water bottle cap and then grabbing just what I need. It's usually when I use the tip to apply the CA where I get the sticking problem, but that's due to me forgetting to wipe it off before recapping.

Since CA (or "ACC" as it was once called) was developed from a medical adhesive (which is why it sticks to our fingers so well!), I have always kept mine in the refrigerator;  never had any issues with "clogging".

Actually, no. ACC originated from bomb sight development in the 40's and was discarded as being too difficult to work with and ownership of the material invention migrated along with the chemists that developed when they moved on to E-K realizing that they had something of value.  The possible variations on CA chemical composition are lengthy.

Keeping it in the frige is probably one of the worse places to store CA as any moisture that condenses into the bottle catalyzes the CA to react - same story on taking it out of the frige and uncapping it.

Best storage location is in a desiccator with a color indicator desiccant such as Drierite.

Almost all issues with CA reside in user error; wrong viscosity choice, excess application, poor storage conditions, and not having a proper micro-application tip on the bottle.

I buy two 2 oz bottles at a time and it never goes bad; using disposable micro-application tips eliminated clogging.
