President William J. Clinton. I believe he had G-gauge in the White House.

FrankM

Ronald Regan had a G Gauge train set. A photo of the White House in Barbara Bush (41)'s memoirs also shows LGB trains running under one of the trees.

Wasn't Nancy Regan given a reproduction Lionel girls set in the early or mid-80's? I want to say it was mentioned in Model Railroader or something at the time. I want to say a larger dealer like Train World (maybe?) was who sent it to her.

Sam,

The Correct spelling is Mrs Nancy Reagan, known affectionately as 1 mama, Mrs Reagan owns a Lionel Pink Girls Train, from exactly what era I am not sure.  It was run under the Christmas Tree in the White House Residence at different times.  The G Gauge Train given to President Reagan was set up in the library for viewing by the visiting public.  This train was pictured in Time Magazine the year it arrived.

President Reagans own American Flyer Standard Gauge Silver Presidential Train was set up by President Reagan himself, with help from the staff, under the giant Christmas Tree in the Main Foyer of the White House.   When nobody was around President Reagan would get out of bed at night, especially when he worried about his men in arms, around the world, and sit on the marble floor and run his American Flyer Train.  President Reagan was a true Commander & Chief, his wife was a real 1st lady.

I would very much appreciate it, if you would spell their name correctly.

Every president is a "real" commander in chief, burdened by an awesome responsibility. I'm glad President Reagan had model trains as a diversion; the office exacts a huge price from the occupant.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Reagan in 1989. She is an extremely charming woman.
