Just to avoid any confusion for others, the gold PE and coaches are more of a satin gold "paint" finish as opposed to shiny gold-plating (which is how the Anniversary Hudson and caboose were produced).  Very different looks -- each has its merits.

I plan to run my set on the new layout.  Grab the gold coaches now while you can, 'cause I don't think we'll see more made in the near future.  Dealers are already pushing street prices close to MSRP on the coaches.

We don't buy engines to sit on a shelf. See no purpose in that. We are re-tooling our North Pole layout for Christmas 2015 and will run both the Black and Gold scale versions on the same layout. Sort of coming and going. We started to take down the previous layout yesterday, so we got some time to do this.

The Gold Edition Berkshire is really spectacular as all of the details on this engine a very apparent. The matching Gold Edition passenger cars are realty pretty cool as well.

I purchased mine to eventually run, not so much to display. I also bought it because it is a very special run of the Polar Express.

I got mine in last week and couldn't wait to pull it out of the box. it, along with the coaches, look spectacular. Like Passenger Train Collector said, all of the details show nicely on the model.

Right now, I currently do not have the proper track or operating peripherals to get this engine going. Having started a previous layout on O-31 running MTH Imperial items, I need to do some extra planning to get everything working.

I will also echo making sure to also pick up the gold passenger coaches if you want the gold edition Berkshire.

I only have have one of each coach (2 coaches) since I got a stunning deal on picking them up along with the engine, but I hope to pick up at least 1/2 more standard coaches before they go extinct/too pricey.

Started today to do some serious planning for the next Christmas layout to house the Gold Edition PE set. Took measurements and did some initial drawings. We are going to take you from exiting the mountain and over the causeway to the North Pole.

I just love the planning stages. The Gold PE will have a wonderful new place to run.
