Very cool Greg, have to get my Godzilla out of Storage,
Dave
Thanks buddy!

I'm all aboard for a Godzilla car. No question.
I have to say, though, that it could wait until after the "Spy v. Spy" box car is returned to (pre-)production. And, why not an "Alfred E. Neuman" car???? Think of the various possibilities.
While we're on the subject ... Lionel should honor us all with a "Sheldon Cooper" car ... after all, Sheldon brought toy trains back to primetime.

3) did Godzilla check beforehand to make sure that that bridge was rated for the weight of 164 foot tall monster before crossing it?
I doubt he did any research. After all, he probably hoped it wasn't strong enough because he wanted to destroy it anyway.

NNJ Railfan posted:I have some questions relating to the movie clips/still that John Pignatelli posted:
1) does anyone know whether the trains he's eating in the movie still are actual model toys or just some kind of mock-up?
2) in the movie clip the two characters running away are wearing surgical-type masks - I often see people of Asian descent still wearing them today (I'm in NYC); is there some historical significance to this?
3) did Godzilla check beforehand to make sure that that bridge was rated for the weight of 164 foot tall monster before crossing it?
1. This is a photo shopped print, Notice the train is going through his head and not in his mouth, the Godzilla shown is from the the movie, "Giant monster all out attack"
2. This one is a colorized print of the original 1956 american release with Ramon Burr.
3. is the latest Japanese version " Shin Godzilla", the railroad bridge is in the foreground, Godzilla is behind it, he is seen stomping on something. maybe the director?
The mask on the dudes running is because most of Asia smells like a boys High school locker room, I been all over Asia and believe me it has an odor about it, smells like downtown LA also.
If a Godzilla car doesn't play the theme, it ain't worth it:

I'm sure that's news to the artist, Chris White. He painted that piece as a commission for Playing Mantis' plastic model division, Polar Lights. They released the model back in 2001. Here's a pic of the front of the box:
The people at Playing Mantis and Chris White were so proud of the fine work, prints of it were handed out for promotional purposes. I was lucky enough to get the one shown below:
For any who still aren't sure.....
It is an entirely original artistic work---NOT a colorized still from any of the movies.

I confused it with this one.
I stand corrected, I see you are a fan of Big G. If you can tell me who is listed on the last credits for a special thanks. for the 1998 American Godzilla flick.
Did your friend do this one also.
Or maybe this one.
The Polar light kits have been around for decades at least the sixties.
In the sixties, it was Aurora who came out with all the monster, Godzilla and King Kong kits. Polar lights later revived the series in the nineties.

Maritime MuseumDid your friend do this one also.No. I know who did, though. It was accomplished by Craig Wheeler. He built and painted the actual model and placed it in front of the Chris White artwork. Polar Lights encouraged that by printing the artwork sans Godzilla on the back of the box:You can see more pics of the model itself without the background here: https://culttvman.com/main/craig-wheelers-godzilla/Or maybe this one. That box artwork was painted by James Bama. He painted many of the original monster models Aurora produced back in the 60s: Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, Wolf Man, The Creature, King Kong, et al. Polar Lights re-released many of them in the late 90s and early 2000s in boxes with very similar artwork to the Aurora originals such as the Godzilla box in your pic. Here's the Aurora original:The Polar light kits have been around for decades at least the sixties.
I know where I have been, I know where I am at, I am hopeful I know where I am going.(The devil and God are talking it over).
My replies to your questions are displayed above in bold.
Think of all of the other cars that could be on this train. Rodan, Mothra, Mecha Godzilla, Mecha Kong. A Mothra Larva strapped down to a flat car would look pretty great. You could even throw in Gamora whom I have always secretly preferred.
You mean Gamera the Invincible?.....otherwise known as The Guardian of the Universe....and Gamera the Brave?
Little known fact:
Just one Godzilla fart can wipe Tokyo off the map.
I think you've overestimated Godzilla's gastrointestinal power. Godzilla's atomic breath shoots out at a fairly focused area that spans what appears to be a few city blocks at a time. If his methane blasts are comparable to his atomic breath, then there's simply no way the whole city could be wiped off the map with only one shock wave gust.
