I bought a Toronto at York this past April. I haven't run it a ton but it appears to be a very good runner. Excellent detail, nice hidden motor and board design allowing for full interior. Full LED direction lighting, etc. Very nice car. The fact that I drove a nearly identical Toronto PCC car at the National Capital Trolley Museum sealed the deal!

My operates very well. A little loud but it runs well. The trucks have a lot of slop in between the actual truck and the body of the car allowing it to rock a bit. Not a big deal to me. Bell sound is very good and operates more reliably with the horn button vs. bell button although either option will trigger it.

Never taken one apart and don't plan on doing so - looks like a total PITA!!!

They should not be that difficult to take apart, as it is a Williams motorized unit. Should be 4 to 6 screws that attach the shell to the frame, the screws are usually on the bottom near the truck assemblies on WBB diesels, may have to move the truck assembly to one side or the other to access the screws.

I would be tempted to buy one if I didn't already have a couple of trolleys. Great price at trainworld.com.

Question form the uninitiated: One truck powered, or two?

At a price of approximately $150 (discount!) for the whole trolley, just the power truck compares favorably with the offerings of Q-Car and you can run larger flanges (Q-Car only offers small-flanged wheelsets in their trucks).

2 power trucks, one motor. Motor is in the low section of the floor in the center of the car and drive shafts run to the trucks. All according to those really handy exploded diagrams Bachmann supplies in the box!

I think there are 4 traction tires on it, may be wrong without looking at it.
