As some of you may know Nabisco cave into animal rights groups and changed the little boxes of their crackers so the animals won’t be in cages.   Circus are also gone thanks to them.   In honor of the original boxes I’m starting to put together a special train.   Two cars are done already.   I’d like you opinion.  Six more to go.

I seem to remember seeing something about this, er, issue.

Objecting to keeping flour and sugar animals in cardboard and ink cages (does it really lead to pulling the wings off puppies?) really does trivialize all the good that some of these groups have done in the past. But, as we should know by now, once a victim, always a victim. There is no end to it, and never will be, so long as people listen.

We used to call it "whining".

Oh, yeah - forgot to mention railroading. OK: "4-6-4".

Be careful Vinny....you might find a picket line in front of your house.....that being said....I love the idea.....all the best ...joe

I agree. Remove the animals from the cages and replace them with the Waco idiots that came up with the idea to remove the bars.  It is a win win for humanity and common sense.

Hey, let's be careful!   The word is wacko.  No need to sully the reputations of the good people of the city of Waco in McLennan County, Texas, only a minority of whom may be wacko.

What, me worry?

Well I don't know about you guys but if I buy a box of animal crackers now I will draw the bars on the boxes, I don't need for those animal crackers escaping in the middle of the night and attacking me while I sleep. I may not be quick enough to eat them all, especially if I don't have a glass of cold milk near by. . .

The 3 Barnums animal cracker ,  nabisco cars are by Franks Roundhouse. He bought the KMT tooling and did lots of custom paint on them between 1983 and 1992. I have several and run the animal cars with my K-line Ringling bros train.

K-line did do a flatcar with Nabisco blue ends that held a cracker box in between them .

Animal politics aside, I do like animal crackers though they might should be called animal COOKIES due to their sweetness. They are fairly low in fat say compared to Oreos, and they have calcium carbonate added as a source of calcium for growing bones in young children. They go well as a snack with coffee, but our diabetic friends may have to exhibit some restraint in their consumption. Oh, and of course, the classic Marx Brothers' film by the same name is also a favorite of mine!

As a kid I used to enjoy a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo.  Right  behind PRR Zoo tower.  My dad shot a lot of 8mm of steamers running back and forth behind the Zoo.

Just took the grand kids to the Zoo.  UGH!  It is so P.C. it is a boring waste of a LOT of money.  The animal crackers have more to see than the Phila Zoo.  Plus, no steam engines  to film.

Ahh, steam engines & film, both essentially gone.
