Hello everyone

MTH  Premier 20-3069-1

I just thought I would share this being its very interesting how this Triplex was designed. If you count there's a total of 5 gearboxes and two driveshafts. I must say very nice design by MTH, a lot of  engineering went into this model. I should also share the reason why I have this engine all opened up, is I'm installing full ERR in it. Plus I'm giving it a full lube and oiling.

If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them

Thanks, Alex

I recently had one of these that had a bad tender harness, that plugs into the back of the loco, took a while to figure out why no speed control or chuff. On your pictures, the stripes on the flywheel look like they are worn off, unless you have them covered for protection. This loco is impressive, and the sounds are great, although it is BIG! Good luck!

Hi Luke,

This particular engine had a ton of issues, I'm installing ERR for this reason. There is an original Tach strip installed on the flywheel that someone taped over with another homemade tach strip. I removed the homemade one because it was never installed right and it was flapping all over the place. being I'm installing ERR there will be no need for a tach strip any longer.

Yes i agree with you this is a very impressive engine, and very well designed by MTH.

Thanks very much, Alex

Hi Alex,

Is that the PS2 or PS3 version? I just got the PS3 version.

It is the most fascinating steam engine I've ever seen.

Legacy Railsounds in this model would have been great.

BTW: What is ERR and what does it do?

Hi Paul,

This engine is PS2 I think it's the first version

ERR is- The  Electric Railroad Company, Which converts conventional engine's to TMCC, it's also used to upgrade older TMCC engines with more features. Many people use it to convert MTH PS2 to TMCC .

Thanks, Alex

Fascinating loco; the ERR will be great in it.

I have the RK version - a pretty nice piece itself, very scale "like' in its presentation/component sizing - but that Big One is fascinating. Anyone who takes our O-scale equipment lightly, and who would call the MTH Triplex a "toy", knows not of what he speaks. I love delving into these big steamers. Very impressive design.
