Instructions received -- Roundhouse update

Sorry about your situation.  To be honest.....I would say you have been very patient and supportive with both your time and money.  The response is certainly not customer centered and for all practical purposes says that you are the one wrong and you will get the rest of the instructions whenever....???  Not even a "thanks for your purchase"...or...."sorry for the delay"...or..."because of the delay, here is something extra"....                                                                                                                                                                                                              Perhaps you could sell the kit to someone else and then purchase one from another manufacturer.  Since I am not sure which kit to which you refer, I will use Korber as an example.  Rich seems to be very supportive and as you may or may not know, one of our MA3R members was involved in writing instructions for Rich and I assure you they are very complete and accurate.

It is hard to believe that any manufacturer would release a model, especially an expensive model, without complete instructions.  In my opinion, you may be best off either asking for a refund or just sell the kit and replace it with a competitor's product.

So I ask you all, what would you do to finish this project?????Wait for the rest of the instructions, or just try to finish the project as bestI can ?

Ok!   I am one of the 17.  I was one of the first three that committed to buying.  Yes, it has been a long road.  Yes, I have received parts at three different deliveries and yes I am very anxious to receive the following set of instructions.  But WOW! what a product.  The Roundhouse (I am working with a 5 stall) is nothing short of fantastic.  The amount of effort that went into engineering this kit and the amount of time spent on instructions, as you have already said are great, is astounding.  I have never built any kit, total newbie.  I have all of the exterior walls painted, and mounted to 1/2 in plywood ready to place on layout.  I have all windows, sills, sashs painted and again very anxious to receive the rest of the instructions so I can complete the project.  But again WOW!, I love how it is turning out.

In summary:  I only have one suggestion on how to finish.  Wait for the rest of the instructions and you will end up with a Roundhouse that you will be proud of for a long time.  I was never given a firm date to complete this project and no one would have thought a couple of years.  But I look at my train room work, maybe a little differently than others, to be a multi year project.  In fact I have always told family and friends that I expect to be working on it 10 yrs from now.  I admit for a newbie a 20x60 room filled with trains, 1/4 real mile of track 79 switches, 3 Z4000, 3 TIU's, 8 AIU's, 34" Turntable, four levels and a 5 stall Roundhouse was a lot to start with for a newbie.  You have been working with a great guy that is off the charts with his desire for perfection, but at the end of the day isn't that really what you want?  BTW I received my final instructions on Saturday. Can't wait to finish!  But will take my time to ensure that it is something that I can be proud of.

Glad to hear that you also received the rest of the instructions. I too, got the final 4 pages Friday. Hopefully the rest of the folks that have pre-ordered this kit will get everything for it in the next day or two.

You are correct, this is one super fine kit and it is the centerpiece for my layout. Thanks for posting and I hope others that are building this kit will post also.

As you can tell, I changed the title of this thread as I received all of the instructions a week ago today.

Some of you wanted to see my progress on this roundhouse. Today I finished installing all of the upper windows. Now I let it set for a while and then I start MAJOR paint touch-up before progressing further. Hope you enjoy the picture.

You are doing a wonderful job!  This is looking really good.  Glad you finally got the rest of the instructions.  This is going to be a beautiful scene as one enters your train room.  I know that you have a lot of details planned for the interior as well as around the turntable area.  I can see your foam pad you are using to protect those knees!!
