Picked one of these up at LHS complete with original box. Don't paint the bridge and don't use any tape to seal the box they said. I don't have room for it yet but will use it on my expanded layout. Coming soon (I hope)

I've had one of these for a long time. No box and no markings of any kind on it either. Who made it?
Lionel....in the 50's I am told. Someone here could give us the exact years I am sure.

Those look like some the SP used on the Sunset Route here in Texas. I bet they used some like it on the Oregon Division also!
if it's a 316, it was made in 1949. There were also prewar 316s. the box & lettering on the base should be able to tell you which version you have. I believe the postwar have the Lionel lettering stamped into the base, while the prewar version has a rubber stamp
I have one of these too, and use it on my Christmas layout. The nice part is that Fastrack fits in it
These old Marx bridges are very common and inexpensive. They have different road names on the ends. They're a bit shorter than the Lionel ones (18" instead of 24", I think). They can be repainted easily without worry about affecting value, and combined in spans.
