Guys,
I have an unspecified amount of track (two boxes) of rusty 45+ year old track. I am looking to (finally) run my American Flyer trains that were stored and I forgot about them. I have yet to test my transformer before I plug it in. Are there any signs of wear I should be looking for?

Lucky thing is my dear old Dad (who is now 86) remembered them a couple of years ago after he got me restarted in O gauge.

Check the cord over carefully for cracks. Plug it in if good and I'll bet it's fine. I'm using a Lionel transformer that spent part of a winter frozen in ice. As soon as it thawed and dried it worked fine.

I had old AF track that I carefully cleaned. It must have had inside rust because it still did not work. Just as well...I bought S-Helper track, which looks a bit like FasTrack. Works great and does not rust.
