Just bought an Atlas Pratt Truss Bridge

Just bought the Atlas Pratt truss bridge. I'm going to rig it to lift out. But as I look at in pieces I am thinking it could use some painting/weathering/rust....or just plain character. In it's raw form it's pretty shiny black plastic. I'm modeling nowhere in particular, east of the Mississippi. Anyone have experience with this kit? Or suggestions? Opinions?
