Since they have announced that the Gantry Crane will be coming with TMCC capabilities, how about a Mi-Jack Container Lift with TMCC?!!! Talk about an easy home run. The used ones sell real quick when they pop up even if they are broken just so folks can use them as static displays. Just imagine if you could fire it up remotely! I have to stop now, I'm working myself into a frenzy!!!

I am with you on this, I would love to see a LEGACY/TMCC controlled Mi-Jack Container Lift. I would pre-order one in a minute.

I'd really go for some Amtrak too!! Viewliners seem like an easy hit. A Genesis or ACS-64 would be sweet!

You can add K-Line 21" passengers car to this mix as well. Way ahead of their time and still beautiful today.

Yes about the K-Line cars, although I rate Lionel interiors in some of their recent 18" models rather better but that's just my personal opinion.

More importantly,  any new Lionel passenger car tooling is a bombshell revelation. I assume that this could mean for either aluminum or ABS cars and scale size or less. I have difficulty seeing that they'd go in for producing new aluminum 21" cars so I won't hold my breath but you never know.

Good Day,

I'll buy when they supply!  I have suggested Lionel produce several time!

Frank

It's occurred to me that possibly Lionel doesn't have access any more to the tooling they used to produce previous runs of 21" cars, which I always thought was tooling K-Line had used. Somewhere there's another thread that I thought confirmed that. Anyway I for one will be keen to see whatever is really new in the next catalog offerings.

I agree!

And, I predict that: I will say beforehand (as now) that there is little I can imagine I want that much, but that I will see some stuff in there I have to have and blow the whole planned train budget right there.

K-Line made an awesome 4-6-6 tank engine years ago.  Someone - I have no idea who -  has the castings and all for it.  I would love to see a Legacy version of that.  Mine is getting really really old, obsolete, and worn out.

I'm with Lee on this one.  I have this 4-6-6T (K-Line's last steam engine ever, I think) and it's a neat little engine.  Well detailed, but the K-line cruise and sound leaves much to be desired.  Assuming Lionel has the tooling, I would love to see this re-issued in a Legacy version.

That 4-6-6T is really awesome looking and yes I would blow the budget to get my hands on that it's so cool looking.

Right now I am trying to save up to get that MTH BT-44 German Steamer. It's a personal preference because those are the trains I rode on in the '80's when I was an exchange student in East Germany!!

For me it was so much fun(but dirty) to ride those trains you always felt like you were in a World War 2 movie!!

Believe it or not after all these years there are a few dealers that still have that Kline engine in stock.

I bought one years ago when dealers were blowing them out to pull NYC/MCRR passenger cars.

Haven't run it in years but its a great looking little engine.

here's a shot taken about 6 years ago.

That locomotive would be an INSTANT sell-out, no matter how we look at the numbers, and it's the only locomotive from the NS heritage fleet (at least that I'm aware of) which hasn't been produced yet.  Why?    It's a blaring omission, so let's hope we see it catalog'd this year...  from Lionel or MTH.  Whoever delivers it first gets my money!

I heard through the grapevine that mth has new sd60e tooling in the works. They might win the race for the veterans and go rail.

Agreed! This one definitely has my vote and money!  In high gloss like the rest of the heritage series. This would be a meaningful and beautiful engine it also does not have to be a Vi$ion line engine as far as I'm concerned.

No, the first question would be, "Are they going to have those butt-ugly stick on windows?"

18" newly designed or tooled passenger cars could be a safe bet.

...

You are probably correct.  Lionel already has access to 21" passenger car tooling through K-Line.  Isn't that how they produced the aluminum Great Northern cars in the Big Sky blue color scheme?  And what about the 21" version of the Texas Special several years ago?

I'm thinking perhaps there's a bigger story brewing here?  Something to the effect... Lionel seems to have had so much trouble finding overseas manufacturers who can deliver aluminum passenger cars in recent years -- and when they do it's almost 3 years late ,  I'm inclined to believe we may be seeing a change-over to ABS production like MTH did years ago.

If that's the case -- and I'm only guessing here, then this could be the "end of an era" for Lionel O-Gauge aluminum car production.  Clearly, the writing has been on the wall.  We'll know soon enough in a few days.
