Selling the pre-production run of the Lionel NYC J3a Hudson. Lionel #6-82535, engine number 5426, cataloged in the 2015 Signature Edition at $1499.99. I am including 2 tenders, the long haul 14 wheel tender AND the shorter 2 truck 6 wheel tender. The engine and tenders are unpainted and lettered.
The engine and short tender are marked "sample 2", the long haul tender is marked "sample 1".
I have tested the engine with both tenders and all the Legacy features function correctly. The engine runs GREAT and the sound is fantastic from both tenders, including the quilling whistle with smoke effect. This has very little run time, and is very clean.
Since this is a pre-production model, there is no original box or instruction. However, instructions are available on line from Lionel.
I have too many projects on my work bench and I don't have time to paint and letter this engine, so here is a chance to own a fantastic engine, and a piece of history from Lionel.
As for some noted issues: The whistle is missing, Lionel P/N 680-2529-102. The engineer figure is missing from the cab. The short haul tender may be missing marker lights on the back, I am not sure what the back of tender looked like, but there are holes for what could be marker lights.
