Don't know anything from Lionel, but I am one of the fortunate ones who was able to hold onto it (671).

Upon on reading about the problems, I took the time to open the tender, inspect "under the hood" of the engine, and reexamine the literature/styro shell - no signs of corrosion anywhere, and she looks and sounds great pulling my PS-1 express!

I understand the implications of keeping the engine, and I'm fine with the repercussions should anything go wrong because quite frankly, I've got big plans for this engine, which will someday pull a scale set of green 2400 series cars that I plan to have custom painted.

it is truly a shame the way the whole business went about the engine, though...

We can never predict with any real sense of confidence what will happen down the road in terms of value.  In many cases, enthusiasts need to be convinced something is TRULY rare with an upward trending worth, before they think there's value to owning it.

Collectors don't acquire stuff today 'cause they like the stuff.  They largely buy 'cause they see the value has jumped... and they're hoping it will jump even more after THEY buy one too.    For whatever reason, we haven't seen that happen here with the scale Legacy Turbine.  In fact the usual dealers noted for playing pricing games haven't been doing so with this loco, despite the fact that few probably remain in the market at this time.  And by and large, there hasn't been any significant amount of "buzz factor" surrounding this locomotive -- aside the dampness/corrosion issue.

Well guys our disturbitor sent back one skid to lionel and got a good skid in replaciment for them.

We have two left in stock of the PRR 6200

All I can say is that these things can pull.

It took me 32 passenger cars befor it boged down.

this is a great puller.

Marty is right.  I love mine.  Another point in its favor besides the copious smoke and great running: there aren't that many handsome, good-running steam locos that sound really different.  This is one that does.  That's nice to have.

Overall I don't think that many were damaged and those have been culled from the herd and everyone is paying attention now, so you should not have trouble getting a good one.

because most of the lionels smoke units are pretty lame....a engine like that should really blow smoke like a mad dog..marty i want to hear what the whistle sounds like..

Best way is to go buy one.  I am basically an MTH locomotive owner but have recently put a good roundhouse of Legacy locomotives together.  All of them are great smokers.  If a locomotive does not run and smoke great, I get rid of it.  All the Legacy locomotives I have purchased have been keepers.   I like the Legacy SD-70 locomotives and they also smoke great.  The old days of bad smoking Lionel locomotives has passed.  I only own 2 TMCC locomotives.

When you state Lionels smoke units are pretty lame, you have to be running TMCC or earlier as Legacy locomotives do not fit in that world.  They smoke great.
