Missouri Pacific Lines Let’s see them.

Horrors!  I have two C&S cabooses, that l found trucks on a Mullet River side door had zinkpested, so l had to replace, but found l have no known MP cabooses (unless one of side doors l accumulated over years out of junk boxes) is a model of one.  Did Mullet River offer any MP kits?  Haven't seen an O MP brass caboose ...there is that once common Hallmark related T&P brass side door, but MP?C&S and Burlington used some of same cabooses; any chance T&P and related MP used that same side door?

"When all else fails, read the directions", so l went to the Michels MP caboose book.  Hundreds of cabooses in history of the MP, and its several affiliates. MP had connections in south, the C&El in eastern Illinois, and assorted other subsidiaries. A number of brass HO cabooses are shown, but none of the many side doors, combine cabooses, and drovers of the MP.  The list is so long, with photos of many similar side doors, that l can only guess which one might match the Hallmark T&P O scale version. An MP expert might know.

Have you tried to take your question directly to Michaels. He seems to be the doctor when it comes to MP cabeese.  Pat B.

Did anybody on the forum buy the Sunshine special engine and cars Lionel offered a few years back?   If so, I'd love to see pics (as opposed to the catalog guesstimations).

Palallin, I bought the seven cars offered most recently: the set of 4, the set of 2, and the diner. I missed out on the earlier release of the Sunshine Special RPO and the Missouri Pacific Northern. I also have several Atlas MP and TP express refers that might look good in this train. I am out of town for another two weeks, but have hoped to post photos of that train and perhaps another one or two MP themed trains in this thread. The best I can do at this point to lead this train is a SP Northern 3751 (No Bueno) or a MP Mikado. If I had the MP Northern, I would try to run a second Section with the Mikado. In this thread I maybe able to run an E-6 Texas Eagle, a coal drag, or a mixed freight. But not for two weeks. Pat B.

I'm not sure if they install them on everything but they do install them quite a bit.  Swapping them for some clear plastic would be easy.  It doesn't bother me so I'm keeping them as-is.

Wouldn't change them out if I had that set either, was just thinking our older set has clear windows and wondering how they would look mixed together.

@colorado hirailer can you post pictures of the one you think might be MP?

Was recently in Kansas City, MO for school, picked up this Vision Line boxcar as a souvenir. Sorry for the bad pic I have it packed away in my suitcase and don’t really want to take it out.

3rd Rail MP E6 “A” / Run 1

I believe there were only about 10 of these (3 rail and 2 rail combined) in Run 1, even less “B” units.  3rd Rail E5, 6  Run 2 is currently being executed and hopefully could be finished near end of this year(?). MP is again being done in this paint scheme And Also in Jenks Blue. A side-by-side “family portrait” will be presented then. Great Fun !!!

Texas Eagle:. I can't find quickly my Hallmark brass T&P "muley" caboose, but found an ATSF brass side door that l doubt has an MP twin.

Great thread!  I grew up not far from DeSoto and had friends and relatives that worked at the Mopac car shops.  Years ago I'd chase trains over at Dupo, IL and around the St Louis metro area.  I'm slowly building up an O scale roster for retirement (most of my collection is N scale).  Here are a few pics of some things I have.  A modified Weaver GP38-2, a kit-bashed short bay window caboose, a rural depot in MP trim, and one of my Atlas GP15-1s.

Welcome to the MP blog Tim !!!  Nice contribution.  It would be cool to tell us how you kit-bashed the Very Nice caboose. It’s Regrettable No One Does these.        You have made something quite unique for MP. 👍👍👍

Nice group of rolling stock Tim !!!  Especially your Fleet of cabooses !!!! I’m envious of that - I’ve Trolled for years to get an acceptable MP caboose (didn’t like the Trainman offering) and Finally found a MP subsidiary T&P (MTH).  MP and T&P cabooses are Quite Scarce !!!!!                  I’ve not seen that piggyback before. Nice but Pushing 90’ scale would be challenging on my 072 & 096 loop. I need to pay more attention to Weaver cars. What you have here would definitely expand the diversity of my MP/T&P cars.

I spent some time over the weekend upgrading to fixed pilots and Kaydees for my MP and T&P E8s. I’m prepping them out in anticipation of the upcoming Golden Gate Sunset MP and T&P Texas Eagles  !!! My MP E6 is ready. Only my MP Alco need to be upgraded.

Tim sorry for the so late reply nice pics thanks for sharing and I did the same thing the past two years I’ve bought and saved and built my O Scale empire the way I wanted. Last year I retired after driving a Tractor Trailer for over 33 years got a couple seasonal jobs and now it’s time to play with trains.

I went through the 3 pages of this thread to make sure no one has previously mentioned this. The Lionel catalog was the 1st time I had ever heard about the Missouri Pacific. I'll bet that for many of us northeasterners, that was also true for them.

For me, it was the '57 catalog......this neat O27 Alco set. One of our modular group members actually received this set as his 1st set.

My friend has said that he spent his days loading and unloading the logs and pipes with the Erie crane.....

For those a little older (I turn 70 in June), I suspect the 1954 catalog with the beautiful MoPac boxcar.....
