Hello All

I have an MTH NYC Hudson steam engine # 30-1362-1 with PS 2 that runs fine for a while then very abruptly stops dead and will not move forward. The lights and sound remain on. It will however, run in reverse. I back it up for a few feet, then change direction and it runs again going forward. It will run for a while then stops dead again. It stops randomly on different sections of track. All my other engines run fine so I pretty much ruled out a track problem. I am controlling it with DCS. I checked the tach tape on the flywheel thinking it may have gotten damaged or dirty but it appears to be fine. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds similar to some of my woes.  Check the pick up connections inside the body.  I have had some screws inside loosen on the either the ground or the pickup roller. On one engine, I had wires break going to the truck that gave weird action as it would stop in some corners or some track sections at random.

It also could be a loose wire going to the PS2 wire connection.  My PS3 steamer is down currently do to this issue. It would just stop, but everything else would just work - lights, steam, sound - but no movement.
