I switched the sound files in my PS3 SD60M and it doesn't work right now. I loaded on a PS2 file and now none of the lights work and it goes full speed in either direction only, no matter what speed step it's on. I then loaded the original file back on and it still has the same problem. I used the latest version of the loader with my whole DCS system updated to the latest version. I remember reading a warning that using an older version of the loader on a PS3 engine somehow "makes" it PS2 and it has to be sent in to have it fixed. Not sure what charastics an engine exhibits when that happens. I'm wondering if I messed mine up somehow or if I can fix it.

Trevor,

I very much doubt that the model of the TIU has anything to do with the problem. I suggest that you first perform a Factory Reset, which will delete the engine from the remote, and then re-add the engine:

  • Menu/Advanced/Reset Engine/Factory Reset, scroll to the engine, and press the thumbwheel once to select it and again to confirm
  • Menu/System/Add Engine/Add MTH Engine.

This and a whole lot more is all in The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase  from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at OGR’s web store!

Currently mine is getting stuck at sector 8. I have this problem all the time and after a while it does decide to load. But this is the first time I've had a problem like this with the engine. The sounds work perfectly fine but there's no lights and the speed problem which I don't get. I did try the reset and that didn't do anything

Was the engine working before the file change?  With no lights or speed control it looks like the 40 pin connector may not be fully seated.  Or some hardware fault on the engine.  I assume it does the same in conventional?  Could be software too, I have seen weird stuff.

When you down load the sound file from MTH web it is a zip file and has the flash code file and a sound file.  Using the loader program, select flash icon and it will take you to flash type files.  Select the flash file you down loaded.  Should take about 3 minutes to load.  After it loads turn power off.  Engine should beep.  Once fully quiet (about 30secs), turn power on and wait.  Will beep more and for longer period, and then probably start up in conventional.  Once it does try adding it or selecting if all ready in remote.  See how it works.   G
