MTH sound problem

Sounds like a pinched wire or a loose connection, possibly more than one.

I'd carefully open it up and check for mashed wires or loose wires or connectors.

 Somethings not quite right for sure. I guess what came to mind was... I know you said the battery was charged last night. Maybe try the battery test by removing track power, sounds should continue on for at least 6 or 7 seconds, That's track power off not shut down with remote.

 Try this one too..Menu/Advanced/ reset engine / feature reset 

I guess you tried setting the sounds under the sound menu?

Do a feature reset under DCS, I think that will clear things up. MENU/ADVANCED/RESET ENGINE/FEATURE RESET

Thanks guys. Just tried the feature reset solution. Didn'twork. Tried the battery test. The sound went off immediately. I did remove the body mount phillips screws except 2 at the end. They are stubborn. I don't want to strip them. I might have already. 

Any solutions on how to loosen them?

Sometimes those screws are pretty sticky if the unit has never been apart before.  There is no "magic" to getting them out, a little more torque is usually the answer.

Check the speaker, some of the Proto 2 speakers have problems with the metal flaking on them and they sound fuzzy. If it is it can short and ruin the board.

i have a RK Hudson that does the same thing. It does it until the battery takes a small charge. When it has been out of service for a month or two, the sound is very low, after running for 15 minutes or so, it goes back to normal and is fine as long as I run it every few days. Charging it with the charger will also fix it. It has been like this for a couple of years now. It is a 3 volt model. (has the square charging jack)

Sounds like the battery but also try this:

Turn the doppler effect on then turn it back off

Thank you. Tried the doppler method..no go. Might be the speaker. I did start another about trying to loosen the darned VERY tight screws. Got some good suggestions on there also. You people are so much help. 

It sounds like the battery is no good to me.  Replace it with a fresh one fully charged.  The sounds should run on for several seconds after you cut power when the battery is good.

Dennis, I tried that and the sound did not linger for several seconds. It cut off with the power. Still need to unscrew those stubborn screws to install the new battery.
