HCLARKE.  I had two diesels waiting when I got home from work. MTH FM-Trainmaster, Wabash, & a SD70 ACE. D&RGW UP Heritage Series.  Both are very nice.  No manual anymore, need to get it off web sight.  Having problems finding controls on SD70.  Don't see them on the botton and can't find anything on top to remone.  MTH Web sight is my next stop.

This new shipment includes a Canadian Pacific version; a little history for CP fans.

The last remaining Trainmaster prototype is CPR 8905 which is at the Canadian Railway Museum in St. Constant, Quebec, just south of Montreal. This is the largest collection of Canadian locomotives and rolling stock and worth a visit if you are ever in Montreal. There is a CPR Royal Hudson there as well among many other fine engines.

The CLC referred to in Rick's historical link is the Canadian Locomotive Company which was located in Kingston, Ontario but no longer in existence. My grandfather worked there and as a child I remember the steam engines going down the middle of Ontario street which was the only way to get into the factory. They had the license from FM to produce Trainmasters in Canada. CPR was the only railway in Canada to order and operate them. Canadian National Railways tested one (CNR 3000) but returned the FM demonstrator after trial runs.

I was wondering why MTH produced the CPR FM version again but realize now that it has an upgraded shell.

The fans spin on those, right?

Very nice!

The Wabash has a "Mars"headlight and different marker lights than the Lackawanna plus the Legacy system is an improvement over the TMCC. Fred

What a brute!

My first HO diesel was a N&W Trainmaster made by Athearn, always liked that engine, didn't know these things had submarine diesels in them.

Were the N&W TMs repainted from the Wabash engines?  I see MTH offered them in N&W in the 2005 (RailKing I think) catalog, what's the differences between the RK model and these as far as detail?  I take it the fan area for one.

Anybody made a video yet?  I'd like to hear what they sound like.

N&W's Train Masters were former Wabash and Virginian units.
