Could someone who owns the scale / 2-rail, Premier SD70ACe, from either MTH or Atlas comment on any tips on mounting the snowplow to the front pilot?

I recently picked up most recent deliveries from Atlas, of the Premier, 2-rail, ES44AC (Atlas, Item #: 30138195) and SD70ACe (Atlas, Item #: 30138172). Both have snowplows (different styles) mount with screws onto bosses behind the pilot and have 2 tabs at the bottom on the snowplow, that come from under the pilot to secure the snowplow.

While the snowplow on the ES44AC mounts at a reasonable height, the snowplow on the SD70ACe seems to sit way too low.

I have other MTH Premier ES44AC and I am familiar with the snowplow height, but this is the first SD70ACe that I own from either MTH or Atlas and I was wondering if there were any tips to mount the snowplow a little higher on the pilot.

These are just my opinion,

your front pilot appears to be tipped down in the pic. It may just be a digital pic issue here?

I see a gap that should not be there....

Joe,

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, the pilot appears to be bent back at the lower end, on my model. Also, unlike on the ES44AC, the length of the mounting tabs, on the snowplow causes it to stick out further ahead of the pilot and both these issues appear to cause the snowplow to droop too low.

Closer to this weekend, I plan to unpack my old Overland SD70ACe and see how the pilots and snowplows, compare.

These are just my opinion,

I have an SD70ACe with a low plow. From the angle, it appears that the chassis (stamped steel) is slightly bowed. Not enough to cause derailments, but enough for the plow to sit low. I'd remove the chassis and give it a slight bend. I haven't done the errant one I have as I like it without the plow, but eventually I'll do it.

Matt,

Thanks for your advice.

I haven't looked closely at the chassis yet but if it were bent, would I have to disassemble the model to straighten it?
