Yup,  the engines have shipped ( I have them) and they look great.  The cars are now scheduled to ship May 2015.  We shall see

On the NY TS units, did LIONEL use silver in place of the white (used on the original 2245's) on the sides and the star on the nose?

Many years ago ago I had this set and sold it.the TMCC version.  Always questioned myself as to why I did that.

I just purchased the engines, not the set. I think there is a color sheen problem on the powered A unit. I've discussed this before(sorry no link) so when u folks get yours, chime in. I didn't buy the pass cars, as I used the ones that came out with the TMCC version. All in all this is a beautiful looking set.

I have the PRR version and it runs great.

I gave up on both the Texas Special AA set when they got the paint wrong and the passenger set for my PRR; now that is going on what, 2 years 3 years?

MTH has my business now.

How many cases of that have there been? I can only recall one reported instance.

 

Assuming that might have appeared in summer 2013 (it was cataloged in 2013), it would be going on 1 1/2 years. Of course, there are MTH items cataloged in 2013 that have not yet shipped as well. Similar problems all over with Chinese production.

What was wrong with the paint?

A member on our forum reported the red paint was incorrect.

Does not matter, I have more than enough Texas Specials at the moment, and if I decide to buy the Neil Young set, I will wait until it is released as the full set with all the passenger cars...some day.

Doug, if memory serves me I think it was reported that one A unit has a higher 'gloss' than the other - maybe an isolated incident?

There was a very favorable review of the NY TS in Run 275 of OGR, including a favorable note pairing the NY TS with 1999 TS special cars.  Wish the author had posted a picture since I don't know what the '99 cars looked like.

When were the F-3 Engines shipped ???? I received the Power B unit late last Spring only.
It was my understanding that the remaining engines & cars were coming May 2015.
