I have 1 Legacy engine. I put it on the track, fired it up and it has been fantastic ever since, so I never really thought about loading the module that was included. Am I missing out on anything by not installing it?
In case it matters I have a Legacy Light Mikado.

Well if you haven't gone into the info menu and set the control type to Legacy and the RS type to LRS then yes you are missing a lot.
Legacy control will control the engine with 200 speed steps and the LRS sounds will give you the quill able whistle. If there are any lighting features it wil also show up on the numeric keypad.
I don't have Legacy, but I've installed it on a couple layouts. There is a lot to learn. I would think you'd be curious at least to see what it's all about. It's a long winter. I'm sure you'll get around to it. Have fun.

I don't think there's any info in the module that you can't program into the CAB2 yourself. The module just saves you the trouble of entering it manually.
