I just came across this on the Menards website. I ordered one so I can check it out. Also noticed they have flatcars for $7.00 but you have to buy more than one.

Frank, that's really nice looking. I will have to stop at Menards on the way home from church and check it out.

That is a nice van. I can see Lee motorizing this one. Price is great.
And the scale is right too. 1:48 is not as plentiful as 1:43 in these style of trucks. Way to go Menards! I am anxious to see the new Milwaukee Road engine shed too.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered 1. With the shipping & process charges it came to $12.80 but I want it to go with my Menard's hardware & Garden Center.

I agree.
If anyone picks up the MLW engine shed, please post and review. It looks like a great building, although the sign needs to be changed.
I am in too, this is a wonderful buy.
Very nice van, no shipping charges if you have it shipped to your local Menards.
Some other Menard's offerings in the "plentiful" scale of 1:43...
And then this in 1:48...
That Buick convertible is very nice.
We have no Menard's here in Ct. so I have to get it shipped to home.
24 flat cars for $195 delivered is not a bad deal.....if they had more info I'd buy that.....but they look really small traditional size.....way too narrow for my scale trains.
The van looks good. Just ordered one. No Menard's here in Southwest Florida so I had to ship it to home also.

So can Lee. I've ordered two. Some things were just meant to be done!
Interesting. I've checked several local Menards, no 1/43 or 1/48 vehicles, and the railcar has been the tank on the flatcar. Hopefully some of these other products will appear nearer to Christmas.

Menard's never has all of their train-related stuff in the store. They can't devote the shelf space. So I just order online and pick up in store.
I am surprised so many people are interested in this because so many people seem to have layouts representing a time long in the past. And this is a very modern vehicle.
I ordered 4 of the flatcars w/tank plus the Menards van. Recieved the 4 flatcars but two of the cars had wheel sets and the wheel cocks & loads floating around in the box. I have not opened them yet to see if I can reattach them. And the van was not in this box, maybe it will be sent in a seperate box. The tank sounds and LEDs are nice.
I didn't see the other 1/43 vehicles pictured above.

I found them in the toy section under Collector Cars. Here...
That is a great find. Menards keeps rocking it in o scale!!
How are the boxcars in terms of size and quality? They say die cast, and the price is right, and the they look good in the picture. I run Railking cars mostly...
Thanks!!!

The assorted 1/43 cars and trucks are not available on line only in stores. No price is shown on line either. No Menards in my area so I am out of luck at any price.
They are comparable to Williams boxcars.

I have a few of their boxcars, they look identical to Williams boxcars. Menards boxcars are larger than Traditional Lionel close to the same size as Railking. Pressed steel frame and diecast trucks. The couplers are very stiff. For the price, difficult to find fault in them.
Stopped at Menards today with the intension of looking at and maybe purchase the cars that aren't available online. NONE. Perhaps they're not in yet.

Every Menards store I've ever been to around the holidays has a different selection of trains in stock. There is no rhyme or reason as to which one stocks what. I guess it depends on how much room the store has or how many train items have sold their in the past.

Good point. But they are vans. How long have people been making boses on wheels? A van fits any period for about 1960 onward. And this is a Menard's van - it will be fun, even if it is cheating a bit on my 1955 layout (which already cheats, with Bullitt and his '67 Mustang, etc.)
Lee....I wish you were my neighbor!!!
