Hello,

This is all new to me so I hope I am doing this post correctly. New to the forum so please bare with me. I have recently got into the hobby. I have been reading subjects on the forum and have gotten some great information from members so I finally subscribed. I have MTH track with o31 curves throughout, MTH TUI and a MTH DCS WIFI system and the MTH APP. I have a couple Imperial Railking models(steam and diesel) and several freight cars.

I pre-ordered a 4-6-0 CAMELBACK out of the 2021 Lionel catalog and I am excited as this is my first Lionel Legacy model and it has whistle steam! I have to mention I am a huge smoke fan. I love the smoke output of my models and I have a smoking tank car and a couple smoking cabooses in my collection as well. Smoke is probably one of my favorite parts. This will more than likely be my only Legacy model due to my o31 curves which make it very limiting in the Legacy market. I will probably have to stick with Lionchief Plus 2.0 for future models as well as some MTH steamers I come across. With that being said I do not see the purpose to pay for a Legacy command base for one model since it has Bluetooth. I know the features will be limited.

So to get to my question..... Does anyone know the default smoke level setting when using the Lionel app with a bluetooth legacy model? It is my understanding that the smoke levels are not adjustable using the app so I am hoping it defaults to high. I know with the command system it says the intensity levels are 0-32. Thank you for any information and sorry for the long post. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Sorry for the repost but I originally put it in the wrong category and could not move it.

Thanks

Brad

Brad, 1st, welcome to the hobby and the best model train magazine and Forum in the world, in my opinion.

Like you, I am a huge lover of the smoke feature, and saw the same Legacy Camelback for the 1st time yesterday in the 2021 catalogue, was interested in it, and have never had a Legacy or whistle steam locomotive before.

Also, like you, I have a keen interest in what our Forum friends will say in response to your post. However, my experience with the smoke feature is that the default setting for smoke output is usually the maximum. Arnold

Welcome to the Forum...

I find the instructions for engine smoke usually limited. As you have read, on/off is about it.

Experience is the fun and learning function.  I usually keep the engine, steam or diesel input ports filled at 5 drops max at a time while engine is not operating. This practice keeps my interest up and the train room filled with a couple of trips around the main line.

Enjoy your new order and the anticipation...

Yes thank you coach joe. I read about that a while back luckily before I ran the smoke in a brand new 1999 K-line I found new in box a few months ago. I want to run the smoke so bad but I have managed to wisely not.....so far. I have a Lionel from 2014 or 2015 so I'm not too concerned about that one melting. Still haven't ran the smoke in that one yet though. Hearing its not going to be a good smoker anyway so will see.
