Good question Andy.

There is a company that makes repro paint in Lionel pre / post war colors. I can't recall the name but someone here will know. The green they make for the pre war accessories comes close to the green used on the platform.

My original Bosco car platform was damaged many years ago when I had a layout in the garage. I think one of my kids hit it with with a bicycle handle bar. I could use some of that beige / yellow colored paint on the rails. The guy at York who sales the Lionel pre / post war paint does not make the the Bosco platform colors.

I think someone here will be able to help us.

Andy:

There was an outfit headed by Charles Wood who made colors to match classic trains. I did a little research and found that the company has changed hands. Go to www.trainenamels.com. Their phone number is 330 333 9831.

It's 11:24 PM here on the East Coast and so I did not try the phone number nor do I know to what extent that the business is still up and running. Check it out tomorrow and let us know.

I remember when I checked them out a few years ago that they made a green color that matched the base of the various Lionel gate men (45, 145, etc.) I believe that is the same green for the milk platform.

Charles Wood calls that green, Accessory Green. Hennings sells line of paint called Collector Color. Their match is called 3656 green. Both are a perfect match but I have found Collector color easier to use. Some of Woods paint comes in an aerosol. Not sure if Hennings paint comes in a spray can. I have only used their paint in an airbrush. For the white I just use Krylon gloss white.
