Am looking at a PS4 #20-3466-1 that a fella has FS with cab #1407 delivered in 2013. The label on the box has this stock number and lists 'Wireless Drawbar' among the features. In the photos of the actual loco however there is clearly the 'dreaded' anaconda from the tender visible. When I pull up 20-3466-1 on MTH site it shows a PS4 with the wireless drawbar cab #1407. Really don't want the plug in....
Anyone have this locomotive and can enlighten me as to what's up here please?

PS3 has a wireless drawbar. They have to call it that likely to work around patents of the Lionel IR drawbar.
Again, this has the 6 pin PCB drawbar, not a wired tether.
Thanks Vernon. The one I'm looking at definitely has a cable from the tender as shown in this photo. Same cab number and the label on the box say's 'wireless tether' as does the MTH website. Could an unscrupulous vendor in times past have swapped out the factory unit for an older one somehow ? It is supposed to be PS3 cataloged in 2011 - delivered in 2013.

Sam, may be deliberate or just an ignorant seller. I almost bought an HO engine described as a K-Line E8 with factory part numbers and described as O scale. Its a jungle out there. 😳

that is an earlier run of that number so no not the correct product number. I would not buy it unless just a super cheap deal. I don't consider an earlier run a "bad" engine- however it does change what I am willing to pay for it.
I buy it for the mechanics- knowing I may need an upgrade kit ($200) to make it right.

Just an FYI, not about mechanicals or electronics. 1407 was in the last batch of Ps4's bought by the Southern, Baldwin built in1928 - 1405 to 1409. Those engines carried 12000 gallon tenders on 4 wheel trucks versus a 14000 gallon on 6 wheel trucks.
Odd that I can't seem to locate a 2nd older (PS2) Crescent PS-4 #1407 on Mike's website. There must be one but it's not coming up...
If the seller is selling it as "new in Box", he/she may have just grabbed the wrong picture from somewhere to list it on the internet. If you confirm that the picture is of the "actual" engine for sale, I would report the seller to the hosting venue.
