Hi All,

I just got my hands on a Pride Lines O gauge tinplate trolly. I want to set it up on a simple main line trolly track in the middle of the layout but because it doesn't have auto reverse bumpers I need to make a loop at each end with a switch. My question is, if I run two prewar 022 switches can they be set up for reliable automated use? Meaning, apply power let the trolley go through the loop and automatically use the non derail feature or should I upgrade to a more modern switch? I know a lot of my original prewar doesn't like modern switches and not sure how the PL will work thru them.

Thanks,

Sam

I would use the 022 post war or pre war switches as these were made for pre war and post war engines and trolleys to run on. the gears on some pre war are right at the edge of the wheel and some modern switches may derail the engine or trolley or short out with pre war items.

You may have to use the constant voltage plug on the 022 switch and set your transformer to 16 to 18 volts so the 022's throw good.

Thanks Lee, this sounds like the best solution.

Hi Jim,

Not that I'm aware. There's no e-unit and it runs off of AC track power. Honestly I don't know much about these trolley's but I figured it was tinplate so it should look good on my layout, that's why I bought it.

If so there is circuitry that can reverse your trolley allowing point to point running.
