Purchases at Trading Post Train Shop

Unfortunately, I did not know the store was going to be open yesterday.  Would have made the trip even though I purchased the O72 curved track that was the reason I had intended to visit previously.  

Is the schedule available for when the store will be open?

I was previously informed that these openings weren't until November.  I was actually at Menards yesterday buying track.  Would have loved a stop at the Trading Post!  Hoping I can catch one of the openings.  

In spite of missing out on things due to my refusal to use Facebook, I still will prefer missing out than joining.

I understand your reluctance to use Facebook.  I'm not a big fan myself.  However...

I work for a large government agency, so security is a big concern.  They strongly suggest that all employees establish a FB account, don't put any personal info on it, don't friend anyone, and put all security settings to their most restrictive.  There are people out there who will take someone's name and create a fake profile, which can cause all sorts of grief to one's reputation.  (You can always set up an email account only for FB, so you don't have to give them your regular address.)

My understanding is that they'll be open every Saturday for the next month or two and then open more frequently. I'm sure things are fluid. Pretty sure you don't need your own Facebook account to find their page.  Might be worth a phone call.

I understand. Yes, he WAS the TPTS, no doubt. In some respects, it makes sense that it should close upon his death. It would have to be run differently by anyone else.

Actually you do.   You are greeted with a Facebook login page and no access to their site.  No big deal.  Will play it by ear see if I can catch them open some Saturday.

I don't have a Facebook account.  Clicked on r4d's link.  Able to read announcement page.  Would post a screenshot but that copyright violation possibility stops me.

Update:  Now all I get is "link broken or page removed" error.

I've worked at the Trading Post the past 6 years as Jim’s repair man. I am now helping his family with the liquidation of the inventory. There are three other guys who helped Jim during the holidays who are also helping.

The store will be open every Saturday till Christmas. They will be open a couple weekdays starting in November, and add more days in December.

The hours are 11-5.

ZWBOB, thanks for the info!  You've probably repaired a few of my Lionel locos over the past 6 years.  

Real gut punch feeling reading this. Was actually planning a visit this week to replenish some parts and accessories, I'd never heard the news. Unfortunately I can't come this Saturday. Never really knew Jim and I have only lived in the area for 3 years, but whenever I went in, I always made sure to strike up a conversation. That was a great shop. Probably one of the last of its kind seeing as it's been around since the 50s if I'm not mistaken. He will be missed.

Yes, great train shop. I bought most of my stuff there. Jim's prices were always competitive and it was a fun place to visit on a wintry weekend or weekday on the way home from work.
