GRJ,

I think he is after the metal parts not the circuit board.   Of which he could try the chambers from the Proto1.

You got a better option for him to just get the chamber?

Well, the one you show has the short posts, and the Veranda uses the long posts.  So, I'd at least buy one that had the right posts.  I have no idea if those standoffs would be the right size, but I know the posts on the Veranda model that is in stock are the right size.

You never tried different size offsets?   Or had to cut or ground them down?  Wow you've lived a golden life.

Jim, I've mounted tons of smoke units and build all sorts of custom mounts for many of them.   However, I fail to see the logic if picking the wrong part when the right one is available just so I can create more work for myself to make it fit.

You've never picked the right part vs the wrong part so you didn't have to do extra work to fit it?  How does that make any sense?

If MTH has the correct part only makes sense to use that.  However if not you can slip brass tubing or perhaps barrel nuts on the legs of smoke units with short legs and adjust the height to anything you want.  You will need longer screws to reach up to the screw holes of the shorter legs though.  Pretty sure MTH does not sell the heater bowl for their smoke units or the blower cage, motor or impeller.  You can find the correct motor on ebay as well as resistors and wicks  but that's it for parts.  However I see complete smoke units from time to time on eBay.     Finding one with the right legs may be a long ebay search.  The legs on my Veranda's smoke units also went south and I slipped brass tubing over the nubs then soldered nuts at the bottom of the tubes and used JB Weld to hold the new legs on.  I debated filling the tubes with JB Weld and drilling a hole but ended up using the nuts.  Been working for a couple of years.                      j

Thanks Everyone for your inputs.

Have found and installed the MTH smoke units with the short legs and brass posts supplied. Only had to add a washer to make them the correct height.

ChooChooPaul,

Glad the parts I sent you worked out.

@gunrunnerjohn - Hmmm I guess it worked out easily even using the wrong part in your eyes.

Enjoy Paul.

Jim
