The two parts remaining for this car are the windows and the roof; at this time they are current manufacturing. As I can't stay in front of my bench without working, I have begun to cut up some parts for the second one, the sleeping car; so I have a question for the OGR Webmaster: may I open another thread or keep on on the same one? It's however something different; I prefer to ask you; Thanks.

Jpv - I worked for a French company for many years and saw this 2003 film for the first time in my hotel room in Paris (Levallois). If it helps, the title was "The Italian Job," but was written over with "Braquage à l'italienne."  You can likely search this scene on YouTube if you'd like - under either title.

The last scene shows the car exterior, and then much of the interior as the stars (including Charlize Theron) do something very French - a champagne toast.

I have begun to paint the window frames today; the surplus of black paint on the outside perimeter of the frames you can see is not important; it will be hidden when inserting the frames into the sides of the car.

As I began to work on the superliner sleeper I will open another thread for very soon.

The first windows!

10_3_2017

and once in their locations:

10_3_2017b

I noticed 2 defaults when fitting:

a little gap on each vertical side,

the window frame is not enough thick to be taller than the side surface (lacks 1 mm). The side is probably a little more than 3 mm thick as planned on the drawings!

I have to modify the concerned 2D and 3D drawings for the next one.

And it's not the appropriate engine to pull this car!  ..........but it's the only one I have today and it was very useful to make the rolling attempts (which were successful )!

And now, c'est l'heure de l'apéritif!!!

The windows for the second face are done; I install them today.

I received the pieces for the roof; lack some light pulls of file to fit them together:

20_3_2017

Four parts because my friend's 3D printer can't make the roof in one shot!

Now, file, glue and paint!

I'm near the end (almost! )

I remind you that all the 2D drawings, 3D files and . stl files for this car and the other to come are at your disposal; just ask me!

Very appreciate your comments, men! it's....

The roof parts are now together; just lack to fill the little gap beetween each with "Gesso" and sand....

ROO----> some modellers in France are at the top; I'm not and I don't want to be a part of them! I'm just an "amateur" who has a big interest for US railways. And some among this so-called "top" are too pretentious and dreadful; for these guys, if you don't own some prestige brands models, you are not a modeller, more, if you don't work with brass, you are less than nothing! more if you don't work on a french model.... sacrilege!!!!!!!.........and here, the forums are invaded by these idiots! believe me, I have taken some malicious delight to write it when it has been time to say the four truths before leaving! ...

Back to the forum after some days of work on my terrace and outside with spring coming!

I began again today with the lights on the upper level:

27_3_2017

The little gap between the roof and the face will desappear when these two parts will be glued; I'm waiting for a 3D piece which will connect the roof and the side together all along the car.

I began to build the second one, a sleeping car; I will soon open a thread for it.

I am looking forward to that, as I rode across the country on the Capitol Limited, then the Empire Builder (all the way, on each train, from DC to Seattle). So, I spent a few days in sleepers and I have a real affinity for them. I can't wait to see how good of a model you make of one!

Back to the forum!

My "3D Guy" has had many problems with his 3D printer, that's why I didn't write anything!

I received yesterday the last parts I was waiting for: luggage racks for lower and upper level. What's more, the upper level part must be used for the assembly of roof and faces! here is one copy of each lower to the left.

11_4_2017

The following 3D drawings show you the way they will be fitted:

10_01_1139 porte bag n0 127

10_01_1158 pièce de jointure toit_face_107 mm

Wow, it's hard to read!!! sorry!

It remains now to paint them and fit...

If you're glueing it shut, are you leaving it empty or will you put in any passenger figures?

Spectacular work!

Hello,

I made this morning the assembly jig for the roof and the sides of the car; now I let it dry before gluing these parts together!

14_4_2017a

It's made of cardboad; the roof is held in place by 4 little pieces of cardboard at each side of the jig and verified with a spirit level and locked with clamps; then the side is inserted between the vertical part of the jig and the luggage rack (in brown) to be glued.

14_4_2017b

Once glued these 2 parts will be turned to 180° to glue the other face to the roof.

Easier to write than to do!

Thanks GUNRJ for your comment!

I tried to respect the appearance of this car that you can see everywhere in your country and that I can only see on photos or videos; but it's possible to do a better one! I'm sure! that's why I began a second one and as I have already said, this one is a prototype made to discover errors of different kinds and to correct them; all the 2 and 3D drawings are already modified!

Railride----> I read your question on my mail box but it don't appear on the thread: window glass is from EVERGREEN, transparent sheet of styrene 0,25 mm thick ref # 9902.

Yeah that

Right after I posted, I looked back through the thread and saw where you already answered the question I asked so I deleted my post. Thanks for re-stating the info, though.

By the way, are your 3D drawings produced with the free version of SketchUp? I suspected that someone had come up with a means of converting SketchUp files to something that could be sent to a 3D printer, but wasn't so sure that also applied to the free version.

CHRISTOPHER N&W----> Thank you for your comment! rendez-vous on the other thread!

RAILRIDE---->I had not understood why your post had been deleted and who had done that!!

My 3D drawings are made with SKETCHUP Make (the free version); if you want to convert the files for 3D printing (.stl files), you have to download a plug-in via the SKETCHUCATION website. That's all. No need to have the "pro" version.

Hello, fantastic work. I only hope that mine comes half as good as yours.  My name is Robert Brown and I build in 1:32 and attempting to build some Superliner cars in 1:32 and saw your 3d drawings of your trucks on Bing while I was looking for info. on Superliner trucks.  Are you interesting in selling your O gauge 3d drawings so that I could convert them to 1:32?  If you don't, I will understand.  My email is rbrown77138@verizon.net     I have built two 1:32 P42's and some Superliners would look good behind them. I would appreciate your consideration.  I don't sell my work, as this is only for me.  I have threads on gscaletrainIMG_0772_1IMG_0766_1forum.com under the name, rbrown7713 and all of my endeavors are mainly in kitbashing. Thanks for your consideration, Robert Brown.

Thanks guys for your nice comments!

At this day, the second one has begun but now, I'm waiting for a 3D printer; I have modified all the 2D drawings in 3D to make the shell; cutter and rule are not enough accurate to have the quite "perfect" appearance I wish for this passenger car; the first one has defaults that I don't want to see on the second one. I hope to have this 3D printer in the 2 or 3 monthes to come..........Unfortunately, my retirement pension is not stretchable!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Dan!

Hope that your 3D printer give you now satisfaction (I saw the "beast" on your thread).

What brand this machine?

For me, I will buy soon a Creality CR 10S.

The one I have is a clone machine from China, based on the Prusa I3.

I'm still learning, for sure. The learning curve is a little steep!

I was going to attempt to make them sprung, but if I had, the gauge of the wire would not look scale, too small,  so the trucks are fixed.  The springs are wrapped around a bolt and then sized.  The wire is actually aluminum, looks more scale.  Your models look beautiful.  All of my 1:32 molds are made, sides, roofs, ends, trucks, and even made molds for the glass roof lounge car.  The lounge car will be the first one that I finish.  Take a look on gscaleforum and everthing is there. Bob.

Hello all,

I stopped my model railway activity; too much other things to do: total refit of my condo from groud to ceiling and as I'm now 71, I work more slowly than when I was 30....

I hope to begin again working on this summer...

To answer Jeff, thanks for your comment; but I don't know at all how many time I spent to build this superliner, sorry; many monthes seems to me the good answer!!!

Hello, Bob, how are you!
