In 1952 a Ringing Brothers train derailed in the Lynchburg area. 35 gorillas escaped and none were recaptured.

They were probably taken in by PETA, discovered government programs and educational grants and successfully entered politics! Now they are making national policy! FYI In the 1960s, Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago had a famous gorilla named Sinbad. He escaped twice and was recaptured. Once in a rowboat in Lake Michigan and the other time sitting on a park bench reading a newspaper! He should have run for mayor!!!!! Happy Easter to all!!!
Wow, gorillas in our midst. How cool. Looking at how politics has been going nationwide since then, I think many of them went into politics and became congressmen and congresswomen. That explains a lot.

It makes me wonder about the big foot sightings in the 70's maybe they were seeing gorillas.
