Trouble with Legacy Command System recognizing loco's on the track.

Just setting up layout after several years and I have a Legacy Command System (Ver 1.4). (new in the box from late 2011) Trying to set up train ID's and have carefully followed instructions from instruction booklets from the Legacy Loco's and the Command System with no luck. I have a new ZW powering the layout. (new in the box from 2010). Do I need to do something special to the ZW so that it will recognize the ID's? Not sure if that is the problem but all other fixes don't seem to work. (And yes I do switch to the program mode on the loco when trying to get the system to recognize.) It has really been frustrating...Thanks for any help.

Do you have the wire from the command base going to the outside rail?

Theres alot of varibles, Lionel has a series of short videos that go through hookup and operation. You might want scroll down start with "#1 Legacy 101- Getting Started", then just select the next videos as you need.

make sure hand held and base are on same channel.

make sure you have a good ground of the base unit.

if you have a surge protector makes sure it is not blocking the ground.

Got it resolved, went to the link that RickO gave me for LIONEL and followed the steps. The mind just does work like it use to!!
