I recently joined the Forum and this is my first post. I have followed the forum for many years and finally decided to join. I model the CB&Q and associated roads in 2 rail DC and battery power.

I recently purchased what was represented as an MTH 2 rail Pacific needing restoration.  The original owner, unknown, had removed the motor, gear box, motor mount, shaft, worm gear and any electronics.  There are no part numbers on any of the remaining parts except for the letters MTH cast into the inside of the boiler.  I stripped some of the paint from the bottom of the frame and found a Weaver name plate.  Apparently I have a model with a MTH boiler and a Weaver chassis.  I need to find information about Weaver chassis, motor, gear box, worms, etc.  Hop

^^Bob beat me to it.  This chassis is die-cast, imported from China circa 2003?  K-Line sold the 3-rail versions, and Weaver the otherwise-identical 2-rail versions.  Unfortunately this design doesn't have a "bottom plate", removable drivers, or a separate gearbox.  It's made like a typical 3-rail O gauge train.  It also inherited K-Line's bizzare arrangement of a small motor leaning FORWARD into the boiler (rather than in the firebox where there's plenty of room for a larger motor.)  The motor had a worm gear pressed directly onto its shaft, and a mounting plate that screws into the chassis with no obvious provisions for adjusting the gear mesh.  Unless you find an original-issue donor motor complete with the worm gear, you're gonna have a tough time getting this running.

I'm not a fan of that chassis and motor combo even when it's complete.  If this lot came to me, I think would sell both pieces separately for what they are and try again.

As stated by above. This chassis is an oddity. It has captured axles, so installing an entire new gear box would be a daunting task. That chassis may use the same motor & motor mount as the Kline 3 rail Pacific from around the same time period. Finding that would be another daunting challenge……I wonder if that chassis would accept the motor & mount from the Kline Hudson, if you could clean that gear up, and get a tooth count, we could compare notes. I have motor & mounts for the Kline Hudsons.
